Fields supposedly didn't interview well, and there's probably some hesitancy because of how bad Haskins flopped.

Also, I'm guessing GMs didn't forget the racism bullshite he used to get immediately eligible.

Honestly, though I'm a huge Mac Jones fan, it's understandable that he was a mid first round pick since his mobility is limited and the NFL is now following the college mode of mobile qbs.
I think it's fair to be a "huge Mac Jones fan", and be thrilled that he was drafted in the first round.

Was he even a prospect before this season? I thought he was just 'the guy who backed Tua up', while yall were waiting for the next guy to appear.

But why did Fields drop to 11? I'd probably not make for a good NFL GM but I'd have picked Fields before the qb from North Dakota State
Seems like based on talk, he should have been the 2nd QB taken.

He's been considered a can't-miss since high school, if not for Lawrence he would have been the top guy going into last season.
I never saw a game where that dropped... the '19 loss to Clemson, he played great, and would have hit the winning TD late if the WR ran the route he was supposed to. I can't fault the loss to Bama in 2020 on him, they were overmatched even at full strength, and they weren't.

I think the garbage he pulled on Georgia came back to haunt him. Talent and production are there, but there may be a hint of Kaepernick too.

At least he is well prepped for Chicago weather after playing at tOSU. Jones is going to have a learning curve to deal with the New England weather

This is 100% bullshait.

tOSU's "outdoor" season ends in November (B1G title game is indoors).

The average low for Columbus, Ohio in November is 34 degrees. The average low for Tuscaloosa, Alabama is 42. Both programs have indoor practice facilites for use in uncooperative weather conditions.

Neither of them (or any other college player for that matter) is accustomed to football in freezing weather because by the time it gets that cold in the majority of the US, college football season has been over for over a month.

I was more surprised he was considered top3 to start with, other than the fact NFL people seem to be pretty dumb and buy into hype more than most fans.

He’s not a hard worker, he doesn’t like competing, he’s not very bright..

He’s very talented physically, but he will not be a successful pro.

This is dumb and sounds like you applying your own biases.

After all the shite I've seen players get drafted after, something like that is not going to have an effect.

BAMA your coach is a fossil and your program is on the downswing. It's all very fragile at the moment. Your best moment has passed.

What biases do I have, pray tell? I have nothing against the kid, I thought he was a good player.

I think UGA likely would have won a title with him had they kept him, but I can understand both sides- they already had an established but young guy who had taken them to the title game (and was projected to improve) in Fromm, and they didn't want to bench him.

And on his part, he didn't want to sit a couple years, so he transferred to an established program that could make a run.

On the field, he seemed to be able to make every throw, and generally seemed able to function at a high level under heavy pressure/expectations. I don't think he ever took a step back, or looked 'exposed' or 'overrated'.

The only negative I've ever seen attached to him, goes back to the circumstances with the transfer, and the "UGA is racist" stuff that came out boosting his case for immediate eligibility.
Other folks coming out of UGA don't seem to support that suggestion, and his own sister stayed enrolled there, so it couldn't have been too bad even with his own family.

Can you tell me why you think he fell below not just Wilson, but also Lance?
