Football, baseball here. Didn't really overlap with those sports really. But I'm sure I'd recognize faces and/or knew them from a class somewhere.

Graham Clark couldn’t handle it . Nice guy and DB had a ton of resources to beat the sisters of the poor. Had a ton of trouble in the playoffs.

Love Coach to death but we could never get over the hump. My sophomore year was probably the best collection of talent we'd had since I'd been in Kingsport and we lost to Gerald Riggs and Red Bank in the pouring rain in the final four. They beat Oakland or Riverdale by like 40 in the title game the next week. Then my senior year we lost on the funky non-downed punt touchdown to Riverdale 13-6 or something in the final four.

Every season as a kid through me graduating was us losing to Oak Ridge in the quarters or to one of the M'boro schools (back when there were just 2) in the semis.

Then he almost took the MBA job in the early 2000s and it never seemed the same for him after that.

Yikes. What does that say about UT? Or you didn't major in engineering or something, I'm guessing

Accounting haha, but mad respect to the engineering and architecture majors at UT, they go through a true grind. I will say any English course I took at Ravenwood was much harder than any English class I took at UT. Lots of really capable teachers at Ravenwood in my experience.

Have completely taken over the state. Crazy how Murfreesboro has turned into one of the region's premier hotbeds for legit p5 talent.

LeMond Williams the WR was badass. I went to the Curt Phillips Sullivan South DB game at DB. Went to Hog Wild after, lol.

It's wild. Riverdale was always loaded. I think it was my 8th grade year when Oakland was good for the first time in a long long time and they beat us at MTSU and then won the title the next week.

How many high schools are there in the Boro now? Like 4? I think Blackman opened my junior or senior year.

If Rutherford and Williamson county could pool a county wide all star team, those teams would go toe-to-toe with any big Texas or Florida powerhouse.

Yea.....Lamon and his little brother were incredible athletes and good kids but the home situation crumbled and unfortunately gobbled them up with it. Our family actually was relatively involved with his little brother as a kid - took them to practices and games and things quite often.

Lamon was going to be a SEC WR. He was a Top 50 rising Junior on Rivals I think and Fulmer, Spurrier, etc had already started circling the DB coaching offices like hawks. His sophomore year (my senior year) was incredible. But then it just kind of fell apart for him. Curt is a great kid - was awesome he got a year to play at Wisconsin.

And hell yes Hog Wild. It's gone now. Tearing down all the classics.

Oakland (2.3k), Blackman (2.4k), Riverdale (2k), Siegel (1.8k), and Central Magnent School (1.2k).

Stewart's Creek (1500), LaVergne (2k) and Smyrna High school (2k) just 5 minutes down the road on the outskirts of Rutherford County.

I'm absolutely sure I do. I was pretty involved athletically at DB in the early 2000s (is that a good way to put it? Haha).

Ravenwood is not open zoned...at least it never was when I was growing up. Maybe that has changed since my era there.

Ravenwood wins in football consistently because they have had very competent coaching staffs since 2014 or so and because new neighborhoods keep popping up on that side of Brentwood. Ravenwood sucks at football (like most of the time I was there) when there's a clown in charge. Those Brentwood kids need hard arse "break you down, build you back up" type motivators in my experience. Those kids will play like their hair is on fire, but you gotta have a guy that can push those buttons.

They're not used to winning. They haven't on anything worth a flying frick in over 20 years. Regardless, I'm happy for them. I have no hate for them, and they've accomplished something somewhat big for the first time in YEARS. Good for them.
