It isn't so much as a big deal of what a little push can turn into but how easily it can escalate into something worse. It isn't worth the trouble.

He’s a great coach with a great team, but this crap right here is why he won’t win it all.

He simply doesn’t have the nerves to handle it.

FFS, you seriously pulled out the “If this is where we're headed in society, we're all in big trouble.” card? You need to have a warped view of the past if you think that was some sign of the downfall of society.

Nope and what was Vitello trying to accomplish bumping into an umpire? Explain how vitello and his team was walking towards DVH and Arkansas last year? He wasn't going to tell them good game, he was trying to start a fight. Had Arkansas turned the other way and faced them how do you think it would have turned out? He stormed off after DVH chewed him out. He is going to have a game where he explodes and shite will go down.

Threads like these are hilarious and remind me that the University of Tennessee has a really good baseball coach.

“Fahr hizzass”
“Caint act like that in muh baseball”
“This coach is unhinged”
“He’s a piece of shite human”

My goodness just go to church or something if you’re this scared.

How can you downvote this?! Must be a UT idiot. This is true. Vitello is the biggest arse college baseball coach I’ve ever seen. And I’m old.

Having really good pitching coupled with good hitting isn’t a sustainable brand of baseball?? Also, I’m v appreciative that you let everyone know you are old — no way we could tell otherwise.

The reason I asked if you played baseball growing up is that's its a hard, cerebral game. Manager personalities have always been important. Like Martin, Weaver, Leyland, Lasorda, Torre, Cox, etc.. Baseball is not a game where you call "plays" per se like you'd do in football. There has been this manager drama going back to at least the 1920's if you follow baseball. Its kind of the theatrics of the game.

If you want to be a pussy about it and ignore what you could easily watch on youtube, go right ahead. I have no issue with Vitello bowing-up on the ump. Thompson wouldn't use the same tactic but I take it for what it is. He's sticking up for his team and no one is hurt. Its a little bit like Pro Wrestling.

Dude, you need to quit watching The View and Oprah. He bumped the ump. It shouldn’t happen, but big fricking deal. He’s a bit of a thug. He’s not the first coach to do it and he certainly won’t be the last. He’ll take his suspension, pay his fine, and everyone will move on. Stop with the dramatization.

Explaining that this wasn't the first time he did this isn't making it more dramatized than it already is. He will get his punishment and everyone will move on. It doesn't accomplish anything arguing about it, so it is better to just move on.

From this angle it doesn't look as bad as it did on TV.

I was expecting far more than that from the comments.

FWIW announcers on the Vandy game were speculating a 3-4 game suspension for Tony V.

You watch college baseball on tv?

You don't get the grass growing channel?

I say cut him some slack. He already has to live in Knoxville and wear that hideous shade of orange. That seems like punishment enough.

I saw something yesterday that said it was a mandatory 4 game suspension. I don’t know if that was correct.
