I literally said "winning is fun." And it is. But unequivocally dominating a sport for almost a full decade with very few lasting challengers, let alone a legitimate rival program?

I enjoy college football because of the unpredictability of the competition. This was one of Bama's seemingly weaker years in which they lost to Auburn by 12 and had close games with Miss St and UGA but still won the national title. The 11 other games Bama played were completely forgettable. Bama's dominance, while undeniably impressive from an historic and programmatic point of view, is just boring to watch on any given Saturday. Sorry?

Maybe if I'd suffered through Albert Means and Shula like most Bama fans it would put it into a different context. But if I'm picking a school to be a fan of off the street, watching Bama football would be like watching a Marvel Superhero movie every weekend for 3 months: it's entertaining enough to keep me from changing the channel but let's not pretend we don't know how this thing is going to end. There are no real stakes the majority of the time, just cookie cutter villains like Ultron and Loki. And like Stark vs Cap in Civil War, sometimes the most entertaining thing to happen in a Bama game isn't the beatdown of the bad guy on the field but when Saban loses his mind on a player or an assistant coach on the sideline. Wake me up when Thanos shows up to make it interesting. Maybe that's Kirby and UGA or maybe it's just Saban's retirement. Either way, Bama just isn't that interesting.

Alabama looks like a bore. Nothing happens there except during football season and most every game is predictable until the postseason. Winning is fun but when you pretty much are to the point that playing in the SECCG means nothing to you, that's a numbness I'm not all that willing to feel.

And yet there we were, taking Bama to OT in the national championship with a true freshman QB and a 2nd year HC after beating the country's #1 ranked offense a week before in the greatest game I've ever seen.

I wish I had Bama's trophy right now but I sure as shite enjoyed the piss out of the ride I took to get to that OT.

Oh yes so close UGA had a good team and a great year, but not quite good enough huh?

Honestly, I'd say Auburn.

Smaller schools with less success have higher highs. Auburn, while not exactly a "smaller school" is 2nd to Alabama just due to namesake. It installs the smaller school spirit.

Auburn has had enough success on the conference and national championship level to have produced the most intense orgasms.

While Bama gets titles, winning does dull the excitement. You become desensitized.

I'm pretty sure the bandwagon Florida fans left awhile ago...so try again?
