We attempted to play the pro players by ..... not rostering them. We are just really bad at attempting to do this kind of thing I guess.

I don't really disagree with you on the merits. The NFL thing is primarily optics and- go back to #1- this is theater to drive ratings.
LSU= villain in the public's mind.
Just embrace that (like the team has) and enjoy the show.
