So you are saying that a MS ST team will never be allowed into the playoff because they are not Auburn?

Well, your first problem was assuming that MSU would be in the play-off in the first place.

They will be undefeated going into Bama.

Zero chance state loses only 1.

Zero chance OU doesn’t make it, Clemson doesn’t make it or OSU doesn’t make it. Zero chance the SEC gets 2 in. The country and sports media would implode.

Wouldn't it make better sense if one won big, then UGA beat the winner in a close game?

If the AU/Bama winner won big, why would the loser even be considered for the CFP? For the loser to get CFP consideration, the game needs to be evenly matched.

Bama's not going to the SECCG.

They'll throw the Auburn game if they have to. After all, why play an extra game against a top 5 opponent?

This.

Also, shite. They're on to us.

I'm sure this will not be popular, but I believe ONLY conference champions should go to the CFP...

I know, some will say we want the best teams in the playoffs, and that sounds real nice, but the word "champion" means nothing if a non-champion is selected.

I guess we could change it to the SEC "Means Nothing" Game.

terrible, awful idea. It sounds great on paper but that's assuming every conference champ is going to be a 0-1 loss great team that beat another great team in their SECCG. What if a 3-loss team in a dreadful division plays out of their minds against the undefeeated and #1 ranked team from the other division and upsets them? You're going to put a 3 loss team in the playoffs over the team that was #1 all year because of one upset? You're rewarding 1 game instead of looking at the 13 game overall resume, which is retarded.

How old are you, out of curiosity? It seems to me like only young people downplay or seemingly don't care about the SECCG. For 80 years winnign the SEC was about the biggest thing you could achieve as an SEC team. It's a massively important and well earned accomplishment that goes down in the history of this great league. Winning the SEC will never, ever mean "nothing".

C'mon Clark... don't you know how a dynasty works or how a puppeteer pulls strings??

A one loss bama team gets in the playoffs... period!! The SECCG is irrelevant in "the process" for the gumps.

Also, this. It's really surprising y'all are still sticking around for our rigged beauty pageant.

I disagree. If like last season the two best teams in the country happen to be from the same conference they both should go.

If it is irrelevant it is because of LSU. As demonstrated the last time LSU played in the game they were not the best in the conference which became evident in the NC when LSU did not realize the field was longer than 50yds.

Because a team didn't show up to play based on the fact they the opponent was in the game by entitlement... not by deserving.

I disagree....

If you are one of the two best teams in the country, why should you get a bye?

Does anybody on this board understand the significance of a bye?

Don’t make me start another thread.

Here’s the answer that I posted before.

4 team playoff +1

The +1 is for Bama should they not win the SECCG or not even play in it.

In years that is the case, the NCAA will play the 4 team playoff.

The winner of the 4 team playoff, will then be allowed to play Bama in the real championship game.

It will be the real championship game because everybody knows Bama is the best and deserves to be in the championship game.

Also it will be a major disadvantage to Bama because they weren’t allowed all of those extra games to practice.

If my math is correct, Bama would have been cheated out of an additional three games to practice.

So that should be fair to all.

Well I did say my opinion would be unpopular.

However, the only way I know to determine the "best team" is to play the game. If everyone knew who the best team on the field was, there would never be any upsets. In 1981, Notre Dame was considered the best team playing in the Sugar Bowl, yet UGA won. How we determine who is the best team will always be flawed, except for, of course, playing and winning the game. That's because stuff happens in a game that can't be predicted by a computer or a panel of experts. Not even by an ESPN analyst.

Just turned 63 and old enough to remember when winning the Sugar Bowl (SEC Championship) was quite often the same thing as winning the NCG. By the way, I'm not the one downplaying the SEC championship game, in fact, I was elevating it above the experts picks. Geesh!

You're rewarding 1 game

That 1 game you're talking about is the SEC Championship Game. Are you downplaying the SEC Championship?

It sounds great on paper
I'll tell you what sounds good on paper, and that's a bunch of experts sitting in a room, crunching numbers, and using the old "eye test" so they can build the hype so everyone makes a bunch of money.

If there’s any scenario where it’s a decision between Bama and any other team, Bama will be selected.

5 NC titles in 9 seasons affords you that privileged.
