1) LSU. Miles stepped into Saban's spot and reeled off 3 consecutive top five finishes

Muschamp has blundered and raged his way to one good season in his first three, and even that one finished in a disturbing way (how could the Gators not be hungry in that Sugar?). Certainly not the mark of a new coach
Ok Scoob answer THIS riddle: what coach in his second year gets ambushed in the Sugar Bowl much like Muschamp did? Answer is....Nick Saban. Bama had been number one ranked most of the year and UF had lost in upset to Ole Miss in 2008 (remember Tims promise), we meet Bama in SECCG and send Bama back home crying...their undefeated season smashed. Bama plays Utah in Sugar Bowl and just like our Louisville game...didn't want to be there. We had chance to be in the title game and blew it to UGA last year. So cross that coaching black mark off Muschamp's resume please.
quote:well, lately Miles hasn't done that...watching Clemson skull frick you guys....so Muschamp should strive to emulate Miles? Ok...I get it, the one who just last year had his team quit in 4th qt against us? And guess what? You get to be in the Swamp again in 2014 and watch your P&G get taken behind the woodshed...just watch. You guys will be calling for Miles head when you break in new qb and take your lumps.
LSU in the first few years under Miles was skull-dragging their bowl opponents.
Sorry for triple posting...deal wit it...

Outbid us for Brent Pease so we had to settle for Nussmeier. Thanks for that again Gators.

I think Saban snookered Muschamp a little on that Pease deal.
But seriously, WM is probably handcuffing Pease on the playcalling. Can't believe he was the OC at Boise with the way the offense has looked in Gainesville.

You could say Meyer left Fla in about the same shape Saban left LSU (a good run with a bad recruiting class the last season), maybe a little better if anything
Uh, no. On offense, Urbs left the Gators in a complete crap hole. The offensive line after the last Pounceys left was total garbage - and still is. Brantley didn't pan out, although it really wasn't his fault. And the WR corps didn't have a single player that merited double coverage. Average in all respects.
Urbs fricked that program over huge.

Obviously Pease needs to go, and we badly need to upgrade the QB position.
It pretty much boils down to better recruiting. A championship team has to have enough quality depth to overcome even devastating injuries. Muschamp is a proven DC but he needs a proven OC to match his defense.

1st - Legit QB play
2nd - Receivers capable if being a legit deep threat
3rd - OL pass blocking needs work
Improving those 3 things would turn Florida into a contender. Better offensive play calling was very close to making this list. Great offensive coaches adapt to their players best abilities, and this gives the players the best chance to succeed. Shaping your offense play calling around what you've got helps. Florida's OC seems stubborn. and continuity tries to force things.
Even with all the problems & injuries Florida has had this season. They're a bad match-up for FSU, and if Florida has any fight left in them. They could give FSU all they want in the Swamp. The Gators have to stay committed to the run though, and take advantage of FSU's small LB's. Gotta tire out FSU's DL & pound their undersized LB's. I've seen FSU DL play, and their DL has been gassed way to early in a few games. No has one taken them deep into a game yet, and if Florida can do this they stand an OK chance, but it will take staying commitment to the run. The Gators need the kind of running game commitment they showed during the Texas A&M & LSU games they won. Most think this game is a given for FSU, but match-ups could cause problems for FSU. Wonder if it's a Swamp night game.

Relearn to play offense. It's like when UM quit, he sucked the ability to play offense out of gata brains. Defense has been fine. Zero O=suck.
It is actually a mystery, really.

quote:Pease would have had a lot more talent on offense at Bama than at Florida. He went to Florida because he knew Muschamp would give him full control. His loss not Bama's and Nuss's. Nuss's stock is steadily rising and Pease is on the decline.
I can't believe Alabmaa wanted Pease over Nussmeier.

Agreed. Many of us on the outside are just perplexed that with all the great athletes/speed in FL that UF doesn't have anyone who can stretch the field vertically. I guess that was supposed to have been DeBose?
