What does 6 wins get you at Vandy? A raise and a contract extension.

Mason had his team playing damn good ball at the end of last season. The fact that he squeezed the Administration for more funds for recruiting & got his staff raises shows he's serious about building up Vandy. Contract extension is justified IMO.

Mason has learned a lot during his time. In 2014, I never thought they'd win a conference game with him. He was so green.

I like the brand of football Vandy brings with defense. They play tough...a lot tougher than other SEC schools.

Over the past year, Vanderbilt has examined plans for a new stadium, either on campus or, most recently, a shared facility with a potential Major League Soccer franchise at The Fairground Nashville.
Is Vanderbilt seriously considering using an off campus stadium? That would suck.

Agreed. He appeared to be overmatched his first year or two. They really looked like a solid, well coached football team last season. Should be interesting to see if they can take another step this year.

I think it is deserved.
From 1960-2007, Vanderbilt football produced a winning percentage of just 30.2%. In those 48 seasons, they only experienced 4 seasons with winning records (1968, 1974, 1975, 1982).
Since 2007, Vanderbilt football has produced a 42.5% winning percentage... and they've bagged 3 winning seasons in just 9 years.
It's all relative. But relative to Vandy, they are playing their best football in well over a generation.

Well deserved, hes done a great job. Vandy's brass understands that others are going to be calling, so they better do what they can to keep him. You couldve put Nick Saban there and Vandy wouldnt be much better off than they are with Mason at this point.
Im not comparing the 2 in any way, but the situation you inherit causes different goal setting. I cant imagine that the program is not ahead of the goals that he and his boss agreed upon when he took over.

Wins against the Big 6 since 2008...
8- Vanderbilt
7- Miss St.
4- Tennessee
3- Kentucky
Yes, I'd say Vandy is doing relatively well considering they have twice as many Big 6 wins than arch-in-state rival Tennessee.

Yea, Franklin had a great 3 year run there from 2011 to 2013. After 2014 and 2015 I didn't think Mason could get them back close to that level, but they were a really solid football team last year. Not great, but they made you beat them.
I could definitely see them hovering between 5-7 wins most years if he continues to improve and the East keeps struggling. Of course, the problem for them will be if the East rebounds at once (Carolina, Missouri, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee). It will become tough to find wins.

How to make bad attendance worse, move games off campus.

I if they agree to play at a fricking minor league soccer stadium at the fricking fairgrounds I will lose me fricking mind.
I don't care if the Ingrams own the soccer team and just happen to be the most important people on Vanderbilt's board. frick them. They are trying to do what is best for them and not what is best for Vandy.

They could move it to an indoor facility. Maybe the gym

Especially if they moved to the fairgrounds

He may have turned things around at the end of last year. I thought the same thing at the end of last year and then he blow the USCe game with horrible QB managing again.
