How old are these kids? I am guessing pretty young if you are asking on a message board.

A couple of things:
1. Always sub as much as possible when the offense substitutes.
2. Tackle well in the open field.
3. Defensive Linemen must be ready to put their hands up to bat down passes.
4. Mess up the timing whenever possible.
5. (this may sound odd) force the offense to execute quicker than they would like.

I have never played Dline, but it gets me angry when Im watching a game and the offense is only running 3 step drops and getting the ball out quick yet these players still don't block the passing lanes.
There is more to it I know when you are engaged it is tough to get your hands up. But after 20 straight short drops they still are thinking sack and not disrupt the timing of the throw.

Just looking at the speed Bama recruited on D this year, along with longer and a bit leaner LB's and I think you'll see a little different approach. Bama had a pretty decent game plan in the IB but they couldn't hang on to the ball on third and fourth down. Too many penalties and getting stuffed on short runs. You just can't make that many mistakes and expect to win against good teams.

yeah bama definitely needs more speed at linebacker if this turns to the norm for offenses.
This isn't a flame on the lbs from the last 5 years they were really good.

The wishbone used to be unstoppable. Same will happen here. It is still about blocking and tackling.
