So a classmate of mine works in the SEC offices in Birmingham, and this is what he told me a couple of hours ago. He would be classified as upper management.
He said this deal is just a formality, if the fans don’t push back on it hard Mizzou and A&M can’t stop it.
So the conference’s get split up like so;
West
Arkansas
LSU
Ole Miss,
Miss st
Mizzou
A&M
OU
UT
East
Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
SCAR
Vandy
Tenn
Uk
In the new format they are definitely going to a 9 game SEC schedule and there are some very strong AD’s pushing for a 10game schedule that includes 3 games from the other conference.
Just passing along what I heard, don’t shoot the messenger if you don’t like it.
My buddy said this is a huge work in progress so there will be moving parts, but he feels like this will be the final teams in each conference, too much synergy this way and and the only geographical match that makes it simpler for teams to travel.

I want to believe, but I don't

I don’t believe this post but i hope we still get Bama every year.
Those games for the past decade have been the biggest in college football.
Would be a tragedy to lose that weekend

I am assuming they have done their due diligence on the history of the fricking longhorns and their tendency to destroy conferences.

The more I look at it, the more sense it makes!
With those teams split up, I don’t think you will see one division dominate the other division like the West has been dominating the East for the past 10yrs minimum. This will bring more parity into the league.

Now that is a silver lining I can cling to.

Yea but it just adds more time to being able to play everyone in the conference.... if they were to join, might as well just do pods of 4 and rotate

At least be forthright in your comments! The reason UT destroyed your conference is because y’all gave them too much power and with power comes greed!
But Texas hasn’t got anything the SEC needs so badly that they will pay up to get them.
No this is Texas running tail between its leg saying we fricked up we want to be rich like you also please take us in.
So they will have the same exact clout as every team in the SEC except for Bama.

So we are going to go on a couple assumptions, first we assume OU/UT join the SEC, 2nd you have to put them in a conference and those two teams are the farthest west of all the teams in the west conference!
So you tell me, how are they split up, show me your model and I will put it in front of my buddy and see what he says about it

SEC office is missing a chance to go to pods and do the roommate switch. Parity will be a natural outcome and schools will get to keep rivalry games.
West:
Mizzou
Ark
OU
Texas
South:
AM
LSU
MSU
OM
East:
USCe
UF
Geo
Vandy
North:
UK
Tenn
Bama
Auburn
A pod plays another for 2 years and then switches to the next and then next. Each team in the pod has a perm rival in the other pods.
Ex
Arky plays Texas, OU and Mizzou in their pod. Then have perm rivals in USCe, OM, and Auburn. The Arky pod then rotates between the other pods.
This keeps the championship game intact and rival games as well through the perm opponents.
