This may be true, but he threw go routes all game against CB’s that were obviously over matched.

Did you watch the game?
Go routes were on blitzes. Daniels made the safeties his bitch. Corner blitz? Adjusted go route on the sideline. Nickel blitz? Deep post against the safety in man.

The throws were dictated by Miss St and what they were doing defensively.

Half of those balls were wildly under thrown.

I'd say that more than half were underthrown. "Wildly"? Probably not the appropriate adjective. But Daniels does not have a consistent deep ball right now. But Mathis and Bennett were "wildly" overthrowing deep shots. We have talent at WR. Daniels was able to get it out there 50 to 55 yards and give the WRs a chance.

It would probably be smart to wait and see what it looks like when he has to read a defense and not throw against air.

Daniels absolutely can read defenses. It is why all of those passes were directed at obvious mismatches.

I agree that we should reserve judgment for a performance against a team who is not hell-bent on blitzing so much to control the line of scrimmage. I would like to see Daniel's against a team trying to take away the pass.

Will Rodgers led his undermanned team on the road against the best D in the conference and nearly won with really good stats.

I have to hand it to him....he looked really, really good. he did not force the ball and took what we gave him. he delivered the ball on time and with great accuracy. He was very impressive.

You were playing walk ons dumbass. Of course he found some mismatches. Why don’t you just wait to play a team that has more than 19 available defensive players.

I dont know if they are starters or walkons.
Can a miss st fan tell me who should have been starting safety?

Starter or walk on... it was miss st.
It isnt the caliber of DB that we would expect to see from a top 25 opponent.

JTD has UGA‘a first 400 yard game in 7 years. Gator fans: your QB who can’t get a ball passed the LoS and that has more int’s than TD’s over the last 4 games is probably just as good...

That’s clearly not what I said. Bennet wasn’t terrible until teams had film. Will be the same for Daniels.

Safety in man coverage against Jermaine Burton is a mismatch. I dont care if it is Florida, LSU, or Bama. Those are the mismatches that a QB is looking for on the field when trying to identify a high probability play.

It is no different than Bama beating UGA on the corner blitz where Cine had to get over and cover man on Smith.
Or our nickel corner Mark Webb (safety body) in man coverage against an opponents #1 target.

I'm not sure you understand football concepts.

You forgot Marc Curles. No individual impacted any game more than he did.

Daniels looked great. Sure we sure should wait before saying he's a Heisman candidate, but he looked calm, showed off a huge arm and made accurate throws.

Really impressive

I dont see him in that classification.

Heisman talent in his right arm.
But his throwing motion has serious issues. I dont see them getting fixed while at UGa.

The good news is that he has a talented arm and talent to throw to. He has the potential to put up some numbers and open up opportunities for our run game.

Bama just keeps rolling out the WR's year after year. Everytime I think I've seen the best a Judy or Smith comes in the next year...

Gotdamn...

In a completely different offense. If you watched that film you would know he’s not very good. He just beat up on walk ons. Congrats you still suck.

6 of them that got significant playing time for Mississippi State. Any other dumbass questions? J.T Daniels threw for 400 yards against a team equivalent to Georgia State. Congratulations!!!

Name them.

14 players hit the stat sheet defensively for Miss st.
None of them were walk ins.

I'm not a cow bell expert. You obviously are.

What walkons started on defense for miss st?
What DBs were walkons for Miss st?

To be fair that USC offense had a lot of issues at Oline. Everybody and their mothers knew that kid could throw (especially the deep ball). That kid was running one of the best passing offenses I've seen in HS (vs crazy good competition). So while he might have had a bit of a rough go as a freshman in college he still IMO brought more to the table than Bennet or Mathis. Smart should have coached that kid up hard once he got the news of Newman opting out. He knows he fukced up.

That all being said I think Daniels is playing with a fear of getting injured again. I dunno sometimes you can just tell mentally when a guy is recently recovered from an injury that they aren't playing the game loose. That might have been what Kirby was seeing in practices. I dunno. Anyways good talk.
