QB rating is a formula based on stats.

PFF grade is scouts going through every single play of the game and grading what the player did on that play.

Finally, a post that isn't trolling from you. This is exactly what the deal is. QBR is simply based on stats.

Texas State however, has a worse defense than GA Southern, and Mond had a worse performance than Burrow. That just doesn’t make sense.

Yeah, not sure how they rate that. Advanced stats don't even show for Texas St.

Burrow isn't even on the list.

According to S&P+ Texas State was 73 which is technically better than GA Southern, but it wasn’t a massive gap, GA Southern beat Texas State, and there was a massive difference between Borrow and Mond’s performances.

I don't know. I'm not familiar with these guys, I'm merely taking guesses.

Burrow went 23/27 and 5 TDs . More touchdowns than incompletions.

And basically only played the first half.

shite, I was thinking Texas St was a FCS team.

If that's the case, might explain it. Burrow was probably right under the bar.

Texas St was #36 in passing defense last year.

Georgia Southern was #73

Perhaps that's why?

Nah they are FBS. But I still don’t see how Mond would be above Burrow with that small of a defensive disparity and such a large disparity in QB performance, unless opponent defensive S&P+ is like 75# of the PFF grade.

And if that’s the case these grades are useless anyway.

I’ve given up on y’all.

Why are y’all still trying to figure out a formula for strength of opponent?

They don’t use a formula...They literally watch and grade every play

Ok that must have been a glitch. There is no fricking way lol.

Also most around the GA Southern program thought GA Southern would be better this year than last, and they were a 10-3 team last year, so they weren’t expected to get run over like that.

They didn't forget, they just take the quality of the defense into account.

In week 1, how is that achieved? GSU isn't the worst defense of the other 5's opponents if going off last year's defensive rankings.

Duke was arguably worse than GA Southern last year, and they lost their only good player, Daniel Jones, to the draft.

Their defense was light years better.
