The Alabama draft has produced 16 1st round picks in the last 3 years. Only 2 were on the defense. Quinnen Williams and Patrick Surtain.

And that still doesn't come close to telling the story of the 2019 defense with too many injuries to keep up with. It was a MASH unit all year. Otherwise, LSU never gets out of Tuscaloosa.

No it was 13 the last 3 years. And we are not talking about 2018 Bama, which got smoked by Clemson that year. We are comparing the 2019 LSU 15-0 vs. 2020 Bama 13-0 SEC/NC. Bama had 17 1st to 3rd round picks on that 2019 team, 16 started and played (Mac the 15th pick this year was Tua's backup). Surtain, Barmore, Xavier McKinney, Trevon Diggs, Raekwon Davis, Terrell Lewis and Anfernee Jennings all played that day. Bama had 7 1st to 3rd rounders on the field that day on defense.

Here is LSU's last 2 drafts which would have the players on the field in 2019 for LSU that beat that 2019 Bama team. LSU had fewer 1st to 3rd rounders on the field than Bama. 5 to date. Stingley will go next year in 1st round, likely (he started) so that would still give Bama a 7-6 advantage in 1st to 3rd round talent on Defense.

This Mash unit crap you are pushing is total nonsense.

Adding 3 SEC teams to the schedule and not have three cupcakes makes it harder.

UGA, Auburn, A&M and Florida were the only teams Alabama played that didn’t suck, and even they had bad flaws.

By the way, all but two SEC teams won their bowl games last year.

Yay. Bowl invites were passed out to numerous more shitty teams like welfare.

5 pt loss behind a QB 2 weeks off of major ankle surgery.

Bammers always throwing up the Tua injury as an excuse when the man still threw for 400 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Not sure what else he could've done.

Although I do agree with you, the game overall wasn't an arse kicking.

We all agree the SEC is the toughest conference, so for you to say that is weird. Adding 3 SEC teams to the schedule and not have three cupcakes makes it harder

This is debatable since Alabama only beat 4 SEC teams with winning records while LSU did the same in 2019 even if you take out of conference games out of the picture.

Also, they added two SEC games, not three. Alabama added Mizzou and Kentucky, a real murderer's row there.

It's a fact, not an excuse. Imagine if he had not lost two weeks of practice reps and played on a numbed up ankle. Maybe he doesn't forget how to tuck a ball and not fumble on a scramble at least.

That LSU D was Jekyll and Hyde.

It was a classic game and season for LSU either way.

True. And in those bowls, bottom tier SEC teams beat upper tier and elite teams in the B1G, ACC, and Mountain West

The SECs 7 bowl wins were:

1. The 2, 4, and 5 teams in the ACC
2. The 2nd best team in the Mountain West (beaten by the Worst team in the SEC West)
3. The B1G Champion
4. The B1G 2nd best team (beaten by the 5th best team in the SECW)
5. The Undefeated AAC Champion (beaten by the 2nd best team in the East despite 5 draft picks opting out of the bowl)

He was so injured that he tried to run for a touchdown right out of the gate.

Hell, even Saban said he was around 90% or so, clearly they thought he was the better option than Mac who was no slouch.

Either way, that fumble wasn't a huge deciding factor in that game.

I guarantee he had enough injected into the area that he couldn't feel the ankle for at least a half. Doesn't change the effect on physical mechanics and impact to throwing accuracy, psychological effects of injury aside.

Don't necessarily disagree, as one change changes the rest of what follows. But, a potential lost 6 pts in a 5 pt loss is still enough to give pause to the "what if" crowd

Wow. Way to pump up your competition. Making them look like the championship was an asterisk.

You said it....not me.

I see no way he scores on that play and it was third down. Likely ends with a field goal.

“The SEC wasn’t good last year”

“Really? The kicked arse against these conferences”

“Those conferences weren’t good either!”

“Well who was good last year?”

“NOBODY!”

this is you being too stupid to realize that you played OSU and ND. While the majority of posters said those two were awful.

You probably did too

I like how das fassbender’s alter account, TideSaint, can’t see that I’m just answering a question.

Give it up, my son. You got sloppy and now err’body knows you need alters to help make your points.

Sad if you think about it, really.
