I would take PP7, Claiborne or Mathieu any day over Berry in college football. And it's not close at all.

I might give you Peterson over Milliner, but Kirkpatrick was a way better "corner" than Mathieu, and cant compare Claiborne versus Barron because one is a corner and the other is a safety.

Do we count overall play (as in returns)?

Just out of curiosity, how many Bednarik Awards does Kirkpatrick have? How about Eric Berry? Peterson and Tyrann both own one.

None, but he's better in coverage than TM7, and it's not a debate. TM7 is a better player though, no denying that.

Berry was the best safety in college football in the last decade but Mathieu was the biggest defensive play maker in the past decade. Berry didn't even win the Bednarik in his best season (09)

I'd agree with this. TM7 was a huge play maker in the secondary, but his overall cover skills weren't the greatest. He just had great instincts.

Oh really? How man touchdowns did Mathieu give up in 11? NONE. Mathieu was a play maker defensively and on special teams. Dre was a decent corner with good size.

You're a moron if you don't.

You can grade them at their positions. And Claiborne would clearly win.

Gino Torreta won a Heisman. An award does not make a player better than another.

His cover skills being less than excellent is a talking point. His coverage skills are quite good. As a matter of fact those recruiting him thought he had "unbelievable" cover skills.

No it sure doesn't. The better player wins the award. Mathieu and Kirkpatrick were contemporaries. If the group that selects that award wanted to give the award to Kirkpatrick, they certainly could have, no?

Mathieu changed the momentum in HUGE games. West Va( Top 10 team), Oregon(#4 at the time) and Arkansas(#3 at the time)

Eric Berry's Tennessee went 7-6

If he can ever stay healthy I believe Berry will become the best safety in the league, but too many confuse professional potential with college results.

There's 22+ STARTERS on a football team. It's not his fault his team lost 6 games.

Oh I see, you have a huge bias here. Carry on.
