He was a high risk academically. LSU didn't think he would have the grades and didn't offer.Alabama didn't back off, got the commit and the kid made the grades. In hindsight Bama made the right call.

However, what you're doubting has been known to happen. Phil Loadholt couldn't get into LSU but was accepted into Oklahoma and was great player on their line for several years. He actually signed with us but wasn't admitted for academic reasons. Somehow he was able to get into OU.....Always chuckled when OU used the better academics excuse against the Sec during the realignment discussion.

He was flaming. The same tired Aggie flame that LSU is a shitty school in a backwards, coonass state.

It's even older and lamer than corndog.

I've never driven through Louisiana and saw a place I'd enjoy living.

Doubtful. Louisiana produces more than enough talent to field at least 1 badass team and LSU gets the grand majority of it. The LSU coaching staff might have to work a little harder to find some hidden gems in years when Bama is particularly successful at pulling in some of the best LA talent, but that's not the end of the world.

what does your future residency have to do with this?
Have you ever driven through Miss. Or Alabama and seen places you want to live : maybe you just don't appreciate the mid south

Yeah, I never really understood this argument.

It's not like there's much scenery in Texas.

Then, Saban & Bama whiffed too, I'm sure a CNS' offer lands one if not both..guess he and his staff missed out too?

Went with SoLakeCarroll's fav son, and Bama's native son, as game managers..it's worked out.

Here are all of the LSU players I can think of who regularly see playing time:

QB: Mettenberger, Georgia
RB: Ford, Louisiana
RB: Hill, Louisiana
FB: Copeland, Georgia
WR: Beckham, Louisiana
WR: Landry, Louisiana
WR. Shepard, Texas
TE: Clement, Louisiana
LT: Dworaczyk, Louisiana
LG: Collins, Mississippi
C: Porter, Louisiana
RG: Williford, Alabama
RT: Hurst, Tennessee
DE: Mingo, Louisiana
DT: A. Johnson, Louisiana
DT: Logan, Louisiana
DE: Montgomery, South Carolina
LB: Muncie, Texas
LB: Minter, Georgia
LB: Barrow, Louisiana
LB: Feist, Louisiana
LB: Alexander, Alabama
CB: Mills, Texas
CB: Simon, Louisiana
S: Martin, Louisiana
S: Reid, Louisiana
S: Loston, Texas
P: Wing, Australia
K: Alleman, Louisiana

The vast majority are from Louisiana. Only 4 are from Texas.
