This is just strange. There has to be something else going on here, right?

I'm more inclined to believe its a mutual parting.

Probably better for UT and MB.

It just seems odd this late in the coaching changes season.

Well, it's right before signing day. It's a guy who has been with Jones his entire head coaching career. It's to the NFL, so there wasn't a need to get there before signing day.

Just seems strange with the timing of everything. Not nefarious or bad, just strange. Maybe Lovie told him now or never.

NFL QB coach is right up Bajakian's alley. His play calling was frustrating as hell. He was the king of the dink and dunk, horizontal passing game when we've got 6'4" WR's all over the place. Didn't really recruit much either.

Hahahahaha

There actually is a website that tracks that and Tennessee was somewhere in the bottom 5 nationally in passes > 15 yards. Guy loves bubbles and slants and ins.

We were told by one reporter yesterday that we'd be getting very, very, good news within the next 36 hrs. And he would say no more about it because everyone deserves their day in the sun. At the time I thought might be a recruit but now I'm wondering if it's a coach or a recruit. Signs still point to a recruit but who the hell knows?

As for Coach Jake, he and Azzani both have been pursued by other schools since they got here although Baja has never been real popular with the fanbase. It's quite possible Jake decided to move on and we're sliding Azzani up to OC. Azzani will be a damned fine HC one day.

Lulz, Jake never calls slants. He's fiending for another bubble tho, hasn't got his fix in awhile. I hear the withdrawal is Hell too. Aches, pains, projectile vomiting, explosive diarrhea, night terror, spontaneous combustion, and dry, killed meat.

It drove us all batshit. Our OL never gave Worley time to hit the deep ball and when he tried he was off by miles both years (underthrows plagued him the 1st year and overthrows the 2nd). Dobbs was able to do a little better but again that OLINE really robbed us of the ability to throw downfield and we had lost 4 WRs for the year to injuries with others limited.

This though is the point I did defend Baja on because with that line operating as it was there wasn't much we could do downfield - not with Worley who held the ball too long for that line (he could've gotten away with that under a better line, and his accuracy had increased from the year prior, but with that OL he was too slow and his own refusal to run the ball every now in then hurt him more).

It was frustrating as hell.

That is a good point re: the line play. Probably had a lot to do with the decision making.

Slants should be replaced with sweeps which finally started working in year 2 though definitely not all the time.

Peyton is finally coming home.

I'm just hoping for fewer bubble screens.

Bajakian's calling lost UT the '13 game against Vandy. Lane (as inconsistent as he was during the season) was averaging 6 yards per carry...he carried the ball 9 times. Neal wasn't having a bad game, but Lane was running over people. Probably the worst offensively called game at UT since Clawson was OC.

The '13 Vandy game could've and should've been won despite the conservative playcalling - Pig's unnecessary block in the back that (ironically closer to an attempted block in the back as he whiffed more than blocked) erased a TD and several other moments that were self-inflicted game changers, any one of which would've one the game even with those calls.

What happened when Marquez North went down moments into the 13 Vandy game was eerily similar to when Justin Hunter went down during the UF game except instead of having the entire sideline (players and coaches alike) panic, Azzani panicked. We had no one to throw to without North in, a true freshmen QB who was getting ancy and needed to be calmed down with some surefire passes (Johnathan Johnson who is sure handed and able to pick up yards despite being a junk time player when others are healthy should've been sent in but he was forgotten about until the next game), and an OC who panicked and went went hyper-conservative. It was awful playcalling, imo but we still should've and would've won had our players avoided stupid penalties that ultimately cost us.
