Leach wouldn't have been bad but he made his money in the big 12 and pac 12. his system would have a ceiling in the SEC. Tired of bringing in couches from the midwest, West, etc. Good to Have a SEC background with Pruitt

Even if Pruitt can’t spell “background”?

Tennessee a great football team???REALLY!

Yeah, it woukd have been fun as an outsider to watch him at UT. But from a practical, football perspective, I don't think it would work. He's had some success, but he's never sniffed a championship. Actually, his teams have never finished in the top 10. With Pruitt, you at least have a slight shot at catching lightning in a bottle.

Where's the problem? The best UT is an entertaining mess. Butch and Dooley have been GREAT. Best UT coaches ever.

The could have gotten Leach if Fulmer didn't out the AD.
Leach would have only been entertaining because of how weird he is, but I don't think he would have done a whole hell of a lot at UT. Outside one outlier season at Texas Tech, the guy is an 8 win a season coach. UT had that with Butch.
I would have looked at guys like Matt Campbell, PJ Fleck, or Mike Norvell before Leach. At least with those young guys, you bring in the possibility of them being the next big thing. Leach is who he is, and IMO he's not the caliber of coach that is going to meet the expectations of a program like Tennessee.
However, I do think they could have done worse than Pruitt. He's not the splash they wanted but he clearly knows what it takes to win football games and what a winning program looks like.

In his last 6 years in Lubbock, he went 3-3 against Bob Stoops Sooners. If he was at a power program, he would do just fine.

He'd beat Alabama at Tennessee, and who knows what kind of spring board that could bring. Pruitt won't beat Saban.

Possibly.

They may set a record for "fans selling their ticket" before the season is over.....!!!! People jump...and then they jump off...

I still say that is 2 dudes but one is in drag
As for Vols, could be bulk selling them to corporations for discounts. Will have to see what the stands look like at games.

great, and in his last 6 years in Lubbock, he averaged 4 losses a season. He went 1-5 against Texas.

The Big 12 was total butt cheese while he was there, and they didn't play defense, which worked out great for a coach like Leach. In all his years as a coach, he has had 1 season with more than 9 wins.

Who does beat Saban besides Auburn sometimes?

only Les Miles, Hugh Freeze, Urban Meyer and Gus have beaten Saban more than once since he's been at Alabama IIRC

Texas Tech is in Lubbock. They last outright conference title they won was when they were a member of the Border Conference in 1955. Did you know that Texas Tech was in the Border Conference in 1955?

The refs fricked him against tu. It's well documented.

In the early 2000s, the Big 12 South was the best division in college football. Better than the SEC West. Better than the SEC East.

He's coached at Texas Tech and Washington State.

Jimbo will beat him plenty til Saban retires.

Very telling that no one has hired him at a major program. UTn was in desperation mode at the time they tried to. He's almost 60 years old and has never won a coference title or finished in the top 10. I guess he's just the latest bloomer ever in the history of college football?

well if he's the great coach you seem to be saying he is, surely he would have gotten a better offer by now?

well, Leach's last 6 years were from 2004-2009, so what does it matter what the Big 12 was in the early 2000s?
