You sound like Baghdad bob spewing the company line, just as you were told.

Why do you believe this? I’m honestly curious now. So if a recruit is on an official visit to Missouri and the school pays them to fly in and they have a 6 hour layover in Knoxville so they do an unofficial visit to UT which school committed the violation?

UT, IF they hosted recruiting activities. Travel was not paid for by the student or student’s family.

If a kid catches a ride with a teammate to do an unofficial visit a school is that illegal in your mind?

Depends. Is it over night? Who pays for lodging and meals?

If a kid is doing a winter fest trip to Gatlinburg with his youth group and takes a tour of UT did the church commit a violation?

If there are any UT planned recruiting activities, that is a violation. Just walking around campus is not.

Nico didn’t stop by the campus. He participated in recruiting activities. That is why there is a violation. If there were no recruiting activities targeting Nico, there would have been no violation.

What do you feel these violations consisted of exactly?

Already stated it. The burden of transportation and lodging costs for an unofficial visit are with the recruit and the family or legal guardian.

No third party can pay for a trip including hotel and lodging where there involves any recruiting activities. There most definitely were recruiting activities targeting Nico while he was at UT on that trip.

Level 1 violation, repeat offender.

Had Nico just spent some time on campus not being given free tickets to the UT-Arkansas basketball game, not meeting with the coaching staff, then there would have been no violation.

Just a matter of time before NCAA just starts coming after every SEC team.

Nope. Not one of you clowns has yet to cite where a third party can pay for transportation and lodging for a trip AND the university host recruiting activities on that trip.

I’ve cited where it can’t be done.

Nico reimbursed Spyre for the flight in question after deciding to visit.

NCAA is focusing on UT because they believe they have unfinished business after the last investigation. They want to make a point and UT is an easy target as a repeat offender. UT knew this was coming and had the guns loaded. This didn’t just happen overnight.

There are also certain schools that the NCAA protected that do not like the playing field being leveled.

Tennessee can't really lay claim to the term "school" either; that implies a place of learning.

I highly doubt that and need to see proof.

The UT Unofficial Visit Declaration form requires the recruits to identify who paid for transportation and any other expenses on an unofficial visit.

You don’t need to see proof of anything.

UNC demonstrated the benefits in question were given to non athletes which took away the authority of the NCAA at that point. It then became an academic issue but no longer an athletic. Some of you need to read the cases better

Sure. I don’t. But Spyre didn’t actually pay for the flight either.

It was a booster’s plane that Spyre arranged to transport Nico. The dumbass was bragging about it. UT is all puffing up now to try to intimidate the NCAA to back away.

But the facts remain, Nico’s family did not pay for the trip. A booster donated private jet flights to Spyre to transport Nico to Knoxville. And Nico went on an unofficial visit to UT in between those booster donated flights.

The question is, did Heupel or one of the coaches lie on the Unofficial Visit Declaration forms? That would start compounding the violations even more for UT.
