What about Sam Houston? Was he welcome?

We used to be.

SAN ANTONIO, March 6— They remembered the Alamo today.

One hundred and fifty years after 188 or so intrepid defenders of Texas lost their lives at the hands of the Mexican Army under Santa Anna, Texans gathered on their most hallowed ground today to honor Col. William Barret Travis, Col. Jim Bowie, Davy Crockett and all the other heroes whose deaths have become a national symbol of valor, duty, honor and sacrifice in the name of liberty and principle...

Later, Gov. Mark White of Texas and Gov. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, representing the 33 Tennessee volunteers who died, planted a red oak tree in the Alamo's cavalry courtyard under a warm Texas sun that lent an almost festive air to a solemn event.

Unrepresented in all the activities was the Government of Mexico."

What about this guy?

Crockett became persona non grata in Tennessee because he advocated fair treatment for native Americans. This ran him afoul of most white Americans and also President Jackson. He told his former constituents to go to Hell but he never disavowed his home state.

Who would be stupid enough to disavow Tennessee?

Crockett thought the fighting was over when he arrived in Texas.

There were compelling reasons to go to Mexican Texas. Land was cheap, or even free. Many of the Anglos who went there probably had designs on getting it away from the Mexicans.

In any case, Texas is definitely a shite hole now, and practically a police state in the bargain. Only Texans are stupid enough not to see it.

Seriously - post on a MESSAGE BOARD that Tennessee fans are not welcome? frick off?

Is that what you really think?

And the rest of you?
