Jackie Sherrill won because he was dirty. Got fired at A&M, the school went on probation. Hired at Mississippi State, got fired and the school went on probation. He was handing out suitcases of cash long before NIL made it legal.

Jackie was working for Aggy til he left for a better school and had a good run before returning to whip aggy in the snow bowl.. Poor little guys..

It’s all about Texas in Aggieland. Checked the lyrics of the Aggie War Hymn lately?

How are TV and Wes Johnson going to split the coaching duties?
Simple
They'll rotate as HC on a game by game basis. For 1 game, TV will be the head coach and WJ will handle pitching coach duties. Then the 2nd game WJ will be HC and TV will be hitting coach and run 3b.

No shite a friend of mine who is an Aggy told me after the Jumbo firing that they were hiring Kirby Smart. And after Schloss, he said Jay Johnson. Need to touch base with him if Earley is fired. Hoping he gives me someone bizarre like Dave Roberts. The sad part is, he would be dead serious

I hope they do. Get the best coach you can ATM. Clearly your gamble failed miserably this year. Texas throws money at coaches (albeit with much more tradition than ATM) but good on them if they use their resources

And I thought you were one of the reasonable posters. Newsflash: Not everything is about Texas.
I got that directly from a cousin who is a die hard ag.
Frankly, I think both fan bases are too obsessed with each other.
and some say it's not a rivalry

They will pull a good coach from someone. It's a good job for the right coach.

In what world would Vitello be a one-up over Schloss? My calculator busted on this one.

reality and fiction are blurred when it comes to sports fans. You know this.
Then again Vitello has a natty. Schloss doesn't. Those matter.

Nope he resigned because he didn't want to put up with 2 years of probation

I think they need some more time to go by. From the outside looking in, A&M is at total coaching unrest right now.
The whole Jimbo fiasco is not even close to forgotten at this point, and the Golden Corral frequent flyer replacement is already known to be another casualty in the near future.
Texas yanked Schloss who had a NC in the making, and now Aggie is looking to can the backfill dude whose team went from summit to plummet.
The only thing Aggie has going for it is money, and if you are looking to bank and retire - it might make some sense. Otherwise I don't see anyone touching it.
In fact, if I was Aggie, I would pass on any candidate that was even willing to accept my offer. I mean, what's the motive?

good points but it's also a place where someone could really make a name for themselves. It's a school with the resources to win it all with the right guy. That would be tempting to some.
I agree that it's pretty toxic right now, however.

Trying to escape the status quo.
For the record, I’m in the keep-Earley camp.
