All in all, they are a sad bunch of fans. From decades and decades of feeling less than due to economic isolation and ignorance magnified by language barriers, they feel everyone is against them.

It leads them to latching onto anyone, anywhere, for guidance and reassurance that they are somebody and mean something. It will even lead them to worship a Massachusetts fraud who tells them they are his fam-u-lee.

Now they are smothering Kiffin with unrelenting love and praise and making outlandish statements about how he loves them and will finish his career there because, you know, Baton Rouge is a destination.

Of course, Saban loved them more than any coach ever loved a fan-base, and team, and city, and on and on.

It's a need to feel wanted that drives them to such bizarre ends. Sometimes I feel sorry for them, but most of the time I just consider them to be human trash.
