LSU paid Lyles $6,000 in 2010 and $26,000 since 2008 ostensibly for the same services.
No, they paid the services he worked for that much. All schools use these services. Is this wrong? If so, make a rule.

Footage from Digital Sports Video of Zach Mettenberger -- the former Georgia quarterback who committed to LSU last December -- was also sent to LSU by Lyles.

Quite a different write up than what The Oregonian had:
Willie Lyles update: LSU received 32 player-video DVDs for $6,000
...based on that, it looks like LSU got what it paid for. Namely, the "2010 JUCO perState Package".

LSU received 32 DVDs of game and player highlight film for the $6,000 it paid Houston-based talent scout Willie Lyles for his "2010 JUCO perState Package," again raising the question of what Oregon received for its $25,000 payment to Lyles.
LSU released copies of the DVDs to The Oregonian on Thursday in response to a request under open-records law. As promised in Lyles' invoice, the videos included film of California and Kansas junior college players from the 2010-11 recruiting year.

Which players went to Lsu?
If none, don't see how they could get in trouble. If anything, looks like they simply got ripped off and look foolish for buying bad info.
None of these guys, obviously. You think Saban would pay for this bs?

Other video clips show two players who were already enrolled at other universities: Caleb Evans, a defensive end at Arkansas since the fall of 2009 and wide receiver Coleman Edmond, who played six games at Cal last season. Video of offensive lineman Jordan Allred -- who had already signed with Kansas State in April -- was also supplied. Defensive end Joel Bonomolo, who committed to Auburn in July 2009 and didn't play last season, was highlighted on another disc. And footage of defensive lineman Harrison Wilfley, who didn't have enough credits to graduate from American River College in 2009 and has been on a Mormon mission in Uruguay since March, was also supplied to LSU by Lyles.

In December 2010, LSU paid $6,000 to Complete Scouting Services, according to Vincent. In 2009-10, during Randle’s recruitment as a high school junior, LSU also issued $10,000 payment to Elite Scouting Services. At the time, Lyles also worked for Elite, as a Texas/Louisiana scout, under company president Charles Fishbein.
Furthermore, Elite’s website’s “About” section is worded in places identically to Lyles’ site’s home page, claiming to be a service that offers “in-depth information on…student athletes, but also creates relationships with players, their families, and coaches as well.” (I told you to remember that phrase.)
LSU also paid $10,000 in 2007 to the now-defunct MSL Combines, a company Lyles worked for as a scout, also under Fishbein. This is also the same year Peterson committed to LSU, although LSU paid MSL months in advance of Peterson’s announcement to attend LSU at the 2008 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
The grand total from LSU to employers of Lyles (so far): $26,000.

Believe me, the players we get to come to LSU cost more than $6,000...more in the Cam Newton range....

DanWetzel Dan Wetzel NCAA limits number of recruiting services a school can purchase in a region. LSU's already had TX service. So Lyles became JUCO scout

Old news. LSU released this information before:
quote:
The DVDs provided by Complete Scouting Services contain footage of 32 California and Kansas junior college prospects from the 2010-11 recruiting year. The prospects were eligible to sign national letters of intent in February 2011. The DVDs also contain footage of one 2010-11 Texas high school prospect and one 2007-08 Kansas junior college prospect, material which LSU had not requested.
