A no hitter through 6 with 3 walks and a HBP isn’t crazy, you could still lose a game with someone pitching like that. He lost his control and was approaching 80 pitches. It’s reasonable for a coach to think he’s done. The coach knows his players better than any of us. Who hear has watched wright state before tonight?

Nah that honor goes to Pawl Mainieri. He chose jet skis today when the fishing report out of Cancun was as good as he’ll get on this trip.
In all seriousness, wright state was going to need their bullpen to win this game so the coach probably just wanted to put them in the best situation to get it done. That starter looked like he was gonna to walk the bases loaded with 1 or no outs. He needed to keep the pitch count lower and have better command if they were gonna ride him all 9.

Have you ever played baseball? Do you know how much harder it gets to throw a no-hitter as the game progresses? He was starting to hang pitches, slight velo changes. Just little things that if kept happening would have caused Vandy to hit absolute swamp donkeys.
