I see Vandy as a real test, I do not think of them as an Automatic W anymore.

They remind me of Kentucky, some talent there but no depth. Just need a couple of breaks and they can spring the upset.

they are a ok team. they are good by vandy standards but we still have way more talent and depth than them. Talent alone can win us 8 games. That is why 8 wins is bad at LSU.

i do agree they could spring an upset but it takes more than a few breaks for them to beat LSU,bama type teams. They get a few breaks and they topple ole miss and auburn

Well we have more talent and depth than everyone but Florida imo.

Too bad alot of that talent and depth is unproven or has yet to show up on the field. So many players you hear talk about looking great in practice and it not translating onto the field.

yea id say for now we are behind UF. UF just seems to maximize their talent better than us. Bama is rapidly catching up to us as well. UGA has enough talent to where we cant beat them on talent alone. Ole miss is the other team that i dont believe we can just out talent. They dont have as much as us,bama,uf, or uga but they have enough in key spots to hang unless injuries pile up.

The issue is look at the states that produce the best talent, Florida, Texas, and California.

Louisiana is up there but when you are picking from probably year in and out of the best of best it is easy to stockpile talent.
Louisiana as a whole has a down year in terms of talent that effect LSU for 4 years.

yea but that down year is kinda offset bc we can always raid texas esp the houston area. LSU is in a great position for recruiting. LA produces players even in down years and no one has a better shot at getting our top players than we do. We have no instate comp and since saban we have built a great border around our state. I think for now we just have issues developing our talent and getting the most out of it. Urban gets the most out of his guys.

fwiw look at the urban meyer topic on the rant. some rantard shite in that one

Well we do get talent from Texas, Bama, Florida but how many year do we get their top talent? Usually it stays in state at one of their local schools, just like other schools take out talent.

Compare the number of 5* players out of each state and see that Louisiana as a whole is behind those schools.

Yeah I have been having fun on rant tonight, in the "Did Jefferson make you more or less comfortable" thread.

you just wish frank broyles was still coaching. hogs can not keep a decent coach and when you had one you ran him off.

we pull 5 stars from other places and usually get the LA 5 stars. I see what you are saying though about the talent but its gotten to the point where we can cherry pick a top guy or 2 from anywhere. I just dont see us developing that talent as well lately.

HBT

Again I disagree with

We do not have the attractions as USC or Florida has. We can cherry pick from the state and possibly state of Mississippi but still the best players in Texas end up at Texas, best in Florida end up at Florida/Florida State/Miami, etc.

I do believe Saban was a better judge of defensive talent from what he saw on high school field. I have to give Chavis time to see if he is that same way.

GOHOGSGO,,,

I wouldn't make that statement as a fact.

Lsu is 1 of 3 SEC teams Vandy has never beat. It's going to be hard to do it on the road.

But Lsu fans will be mad if it's a close game and I'd bet it's at least a close game

this is my only optimism. I think that, because of this, we win by 17. But, vandy is a really good football team. if they stay healthy, they can actually battle for 2nd in the east.

I wouldn't necessarily be shocked, but I highly doubt it happens. Vanderbilt doesn't have nearly the talent to beat LSU. Their 5 game hot streak from last year came from teams basically giving the game away.
