Breaking: Vanderbilt is working toward severing its ties with Jerry Stackhouse, sources tell @CBSSports. His firing should be formal soon. The terms of Stackhouse's buyout aren't publicly known but are believed to be north of $15 million.

Wtf Vandy

That is insane. Why are ADs so stupid to agree to massive buyouts for coaches no one else would care to bid for?

No one will go there if no such deals are in place.

So you offer a guy $4 million a year to coach with a buyout of 1 year's salary if terminated. He has no other power 5 programs offering a contract. So he's going to turn it down because of the lack of a massive buyout and go sell insurance?

Worst hire this pass decade. The AD is an idiot. Darrian Devries would be my first call.

I guess you missed out what football coaches have been getting paid for being fired without a cause. It is all on the AD and that might be why Missouri is looking for a new AD. I do not get why an AD would give out a huge buyout for basketball? That is not the top money-making sport.

I thought she left on her own and wasn’t forced out.

She left because she probably would have been fired. Something really going on. There is no information on the reason why she bolted right away, but many speculated she did something wrong. Did you and other people on here think she just quit for a lesser pay and that she didn't do anything wrong?

Is Stackhouse a good fit for LSU? All I read here today is how awful CMM is. Would Stackhouse be an improvement in Baton Rouge?

How the mighty have fallen. Coach Mc had Murray St. A-#1, top of the heap. Now he's a nobody at LSU.

Because Vandy athletics has more cash than they know what to do with. They get the same revenue as the rest of us but don’t invest it in facilities or building competitive football and basketball programs.
