Kimbrow seems like a good pickup.

Probably because Dooley isn't a very good recruiter.
What exactly does that make Merlins?

not a very good recruiter? i've never said he was. he has a few on staff, however. besides, State doesn't have near the facilities, tradition, or cash to throw at recruits.

Why is Vandy's recruiting so much better than Tennessee right now?
Question gets asked every year about Tennessee. All of our commits come during the season and towards NSD because all of our high profile kids are out of state kids. Same question was asked during the summer when Fulmer was here, Kiffin, and now Dooley. It will continue to happen, we don't get early commitments at all.

Is Vandy's class as a whole really that special?

Is that a big deal? Serious question. I'm not sure the staff is overly concerned with the 'build a fence around Tenenssee' stuff.

For Vandy, yeah.
Go back and look at some of their past recruiting classes...lots and lots of two star players, maybe a few three stars and some kids that weren't even ranked. I used to live in Nashville and it was pretty sad some of the kids that Vandy would recruit.
The fact that they have like 10 3-star players already is a pretty big deal for them.
They were doing better in Johnson's last years too.
I'm wondering if Vandy has relaxed it's rigid admissions policies a little bit. I know for a fact that in the past some good players wanted to go to Vandy but the admissions department told the coaching staff, no dice.

I'll take 29 out of 30 and 46 out of 50. I do hate that worthless 2005 team though.

Last year they had 15 3 star commits. The year before they had 17 3 stars and a 4 star. The only difference seems to be they're getting the commits in bulk.

Yea, got us in 2006 on homecoming
No one realizes that in 2007 we really almost lost to them again, probably should have, but we forced a late fumble and kicked a FG.

The only recruit in TN that I give a damn about and want on UT's team is Drae Bowles.
