I tend to agree. 0-19 with worse records each year is tough to overlook, but it seemed like the future held some promise.

My opinion is the AD is new and wants to ride or die his way. Drew's record was terrible with potential for the future but the guy would rather make the change.

He will likely get another shot with so many openings.

In the SEC? I don't see it. He could get a C-USA or AAC job pretty soon, though.

But you’re going to take another mid major coach who will likely not recruit as good as Drew did and hope it gets better. You’ll have some roster attrition with a coaching change and hope that year 3 of your new coach is better than 2017-18.

I’m guessing that there’s some systemic issues that go far deeper than the SEC record that necessitated this move. Because firing Drew now is a commitment to being kinda good in 2022.

This is a nice gloom and doom scenario that you're painting. I get it.

Drew was 6-12 in conference in 2017-18. He got worse every year. To think that it would take 3 years to go from 0 to 6 wins at Vandy with a new coach is laughable.

Missouri would do the exact same thing with an 0-19 coach.

By pile you mean Lee (the one I referred to and he was supposed to be playing shooting guard but moved after DG's injury) and Brown who is and has always been worthless. These cats are not ready yet.

Matt Ryan, Matthew Moyer, and Joe Toye were also all 4*s.

Doesn't fit the narrative.

I believe Toye was a 3, Ryan transferred in after achieving nothing at ND. He was a liability on the court unless given an open 3. Moyer I like. He tries hard but is bizarrely spastic. If he could harness his effort he could be a contributor but he needs a lot of work.

I absolutely respect the decision. 0-19 gives him plenty of cover to make the move. AD is a basketball guy, so I hope he can find the right answer.

After year three, provided they played for us.

This is the real issue here. If this was Drew year 1, 0-19 might be acceptable. But year 3? Nope. No SEC school would accept 0-19 year 3 and give a coach a 4th year.

Well, basketball marketing anyway.

I figure if he is going to focus on something in particular, it will be basketball.

I don't think he will accept the bball teams to be that putrid.
