I could see Florida having a season like Vandy did in 2012. People forget VU was at one point 7-15 until getting on fire down the stretch and was within one out of winning the Raleigh regional and heading to Gainesville to face the Gators.
A lot of young talent on that team, I'm glad we get them at home and early in the year.

Not to mention SC started out the SEC season something like 3-9 last season and went on to win the SEC East and compete in the CWS finals once more.

So the best team in the SEC has that schedule?
I know I'm a homer, but I really do think it's a tossup between them and LSU.

I wouldn't count on that at all.
LSU could be 8-1 after our next 2 series
Auburn
@ Mizzou
But I doubt it.

I don't want them to have that good a start, but I am not going to sit here and deny it that they have a great team and good SEC schedule setup. Their team ERA on the year is 2.06. They will be in pretty much each and every game that they play.

What is the best SEC record a team has had? Tennessee went 25-5 back in 1995. I think South Carolina may have gone 25-5 recently or came close to it.
USC was the first SEC team to win 25 games in a regular season, going 25-5 in 2000. They broke UT's record of 24 wins, when the Vols went 24-5 in 1994. LSU was the first team to break the 20-win barrier in the regular season in 1986 when they went 22-5...
Top 11 winning SEC regular seasons with at least 22 wins:
1) 25-5 (USC: 2000)
2) 24-5 (UT: 1994)
3) 22-5 (LSU: 1986)
4) 22-7 (LSU: 1997)
5) 22-8 (UT: 1995)
6) 22-8 (Vandy: 2011)
7) 22-8 (USC: 2011)
8) 22-8 (Vandy: 2007)
9) 22-8 (UF: 2011)
10) 22-8 (UF: 2010)
11) 22-8 (Arky: 1999)
Next best seasons are 21 wins or less.....

Well to defend them, after LSU's 22-win watermark season in '86, MSU won the SEC regular season the next year when they went 13-13....
Seriously, MSU won most of their titles further back when the SEC played fewer games.....they have a ton of regular season titles, but with 11-5 and 13-3 records.
They do have ONE 20-win season, when they went 20-5 in 1989: it was their last regular season SEC title.....

Talk about a tough division. All 3 SEC champs and made up 3 of the final 4 in Omaha that year.

Why do you have a hard on for Mississippi State baseball?
Posted on 3/20/13 at 9:03 pm to FulmersGonnaFixIt
If I'm not mistaken the last 3 teams to come to Oxford ranked #1 in the nation all lost ... OM took 2 of 3 from Florida last year... 2 of 3 from UGA a few years back when they were #1 and not sure about the last one... Maybe USC 2 or 3 years ago ?

I think we swept USC a few years ago, may have not even been in Oxford though

Unimpressive. We're going 26-4.

I know it's not SEC, but Vandy lost to MTSU tonight 4-1.
