If one of these programs had same record as a tcu or Baylor would they have gotten the nod to the playoffs over theosu in other words did Baylor and tcu just not have enough teaditional power or fanbase

If the committee picked baylor or TCU the left out Big12 team would bitch twice as much as they are now. Ohio State played as good as anyone in the country from week 4 on

Of course she's 6'4", 240, runs a 4.5 40, and drives a mack truck.

maybe. But I think if either of them had Baylor non-conf schedule they would have used it against them.

Whichever one gets to be TCU in your dream scenario may have had a beef but it's really hard to ignore OSU after yesterday

ISU was the worst Big 12 team. Wisconsin is the 3rd best team in the Big 10. Slight difference.

And the Big 12 teams played the same amount of conference games as the teams that were playing in their conference championship games so the fact that they don't have a conference champ game shouldn't matter that much.'

And to answer the OP, OU or UT would not get left out.

I didn't make their schedule. That was TCU's opponent yesterday.

At the end of the day, regardless of the name on the front of your jersey, if you have no quality wins like TCU or you publicly trash the idea of scheduling good opponents because it only "makes the road harder" like Baylor, you are putting yourself at risk.

I have a bit of sympathy for TCU because their only loss was on road to a good team. But the Big 12 would have been out each of the last 3 years. This isn't new. They knew the risk and between them scheduled 1 traditionally terrible P5 opponent OOC.

And yet, ISU beat 7-4 Iowa, WVU beat 7-5 Maryland and TCU destroyed 8-4 Minnesota.

Big12 > B1G

Yeah I'm not sure why anyone would argue this. The B1G was garbage this year.

I love A&M fans critizing Baylor Non-conference. Is it terrible? yes. Do you have any business throwing that stone? nope.

that being said, tell me, whose non conference is worse?

@Navy - W
Virginia Tech - L
Kent State - W
Cincinnati - W

or

SMU - W
FCS target dummy - W
@Buffalo - W

I would love to see that "Strength of Record" applied to Ohio St's nonconference.

Sigh...instead of commenting on the topic, you build a straw man and try to deflect to Baylor/TCU vs OSU or OOC schedules or whatever. Honestly I really don't care. None of the 3 had a leg to stand on if they got left out. Only one was going to make it and if you can't see why you were left out you are being intellectually dishonest.

This thread is about whether perception was the driver. In that vein, the BCS would have had OSU at 4 because the computers all favored OSU despite the human polls favoring Baylor. So if anything the Big 12 probably got the benefit of the doubt from perception, not the other way around.

And of the Big 12's 5 co-champs over the last three years, not one has finished in the top 4 of the BCS. At some point, you have to look yourselves in the mirror and realize it's not everyone else's fault.

Ohio State:
@Navy - W 6-5 - Headed to Bowl (probably 7-5 after next weekend)
Virginia Tech - L 6-6 - Headed to Bowl, Power 5 Conference Member
Kent State - W 2-7 - No Bowl
Cincinnati - W 9-3 - Headed to bowl, Conference Champions (of the same conference that beat Baylor's arse in their bowl game last year I might add)

Baylor:
SMU - W 1-11 (possibly worst team in FBS football)
Northwestern St. - W LOL
@Buffalo - W 5-6 - No Bowl, But to hear your coach talk about this game it was basically like beating Bama on the road, right?

So yeah. I'm going to go ahead and say that Baylor's non-conference scedule is way worse than Ohio State's.
