I've heard of things like this happening, but thought it was some sort of urban legend. Didn't think anyone would actually want to shove a rubber tube up their arse to get drunk. How does that idea even come up.

Funny thing happened the other day. I was at the frat house for Bible study and hit my head on a low door jam. It knocked me completely out. Some friends thought I was joking around, so they took my pants off. When I didn't react, they thought it was something serious, so they called in a pre-med student. He thought I had passed out from dehydration, so he wanted to get some water in me. They had a tough time rolling me over, and he assured them that hydrating me with a funnel from the back side would work. (We unfortunately didn't have an IV set-up.) Anyway, long story short, someone picked up vodka that we had confiscated from some freshmen and poured it in the funnel thinking it was water. Hoo Boy! Is that ever a bad idea! It nearly killed me, but as you can tell, I doing well now.
Don't believe everything you read on the internet or see on TV. This is what really happened.

That is not at all how it works. The alcohol is still processed by the liver no matter how you consume it.
The difference is that when you drink alcohol normally, it first sits in your stomach (which doesn't absorb alcohol very quickly). Then your stomach gradually releases it into your small intestine where it's absorbed.
Putting alcohol up your arse directly bypasses the delay from your stomach. It goes straight into your large intestine, which is very efficient at absorbing alcohol. The alcohol is absorbed very quickly and all at once, creating a huge spike in BAC.
