He is a name being rumored for State's DC job. Whats yall's opinion of him?

He was considered an elite DC prior to taking the job at UT... tough to know what the issue was there though. Their defense has been not good since he got there and really fell off this year, but they were captained by Butch... the offense had no sense of direction which ultimately left Tennessee on the field a lot. Couldn't tell you one way or the other based on his time at UT. Prior to that, he'd done very well for himself.

I honestly can't wrap my head around him sucking at UT given his success elsewhere. I blame injuries and staff problems (Butch included). There were rumors that the defensive staff didn't get along. For whatever reason, Shoop didn't bring in a staff but came on his own.
The worry would be that the staff he left behind at PSU was the winning combo he needed. I just don't know.

It was actually pretty good under Jancek. The defense started sucking when Jancek was let go.

The whole damn world was high on him two years ago... his defenses at vandy and PSU were always solid.

Came in from PSU with high expectations, defense was horrid both years he was here.
Rumor is that Botch was a control freak and had to have a hand in all defensive schemes and playcalls.

Bob Poop has been incredibly underwhelming, but as others have mentioned, it's hard to imagine that this is solely on him. His staff might have been great, but one would think that the elite defenses he fielded before he came to UT must have had something to do with him.

Sucked at Tennessee but is probably great. He just got Butched. I would expect him to be outstanding at any place not UT.
