You can't compare both transgressions. One was thrown out for targeting, and then USC suspended him for the next game. The shorthorn dude should have been. Instead, Sark blamed society for the punk's actions and then excused his behavior on the field by bringing him back. Nothing to compare.

I put it in slow motion and it almost looks like he missed or grazed him. But then I saw that he basically went with a violent forearm and obvious lowering of his shoulder to the head that bounced his head off the ground that likely caused the most damage.
Not that that excuses anything. It’s just that I kept wondering why it looked like he barely got him and it led to such an injury. He deserves everything he gets.

It’s not the hit that is the issue, it’s his extended actions long, LONG after it was obvious the Oregon QB was in real trouble…

Yeah, but people are defending or at least discounting the hit. I was just pointing out that it wasn’t just a late slide. The angle of his tackle plus how his body was angled shows an intent to hit him on the way down, even though it didn’t look violent on first view in real time (at least to me).

I was watching it live with an Oregon fan, that hit got an immediate OH shite! out of both of us.
So yes, your reaction after a close look at the hit itself is justified.
It was horrible if not extremely late. But any arguments about the hit miss the actual point of what everyone is so pissed about.

Wait....a flag on the QB?
No. They would either call it a no flag, late hit or targeting. I saw targeting. No matter if he was low or what his angle is, you are not supposed to lead with the crown of the helmet. Keep your head up.
Not saying i like the targeting rule as it is...just that as the targeting rule is written, that seems as if it should have been the call.
