This marked ABC’s third-best Sunday CFB opener on record.
The superlative came even with a carriage dispute between DirecTV and Disney leading to 11 million fewer subscribers having access to the game than normal (the dispute affected only the Sunday game and no Saturday games).
USC-LSU peaked at 11.1 million viewers. The audience of 9.2 million viewers would have been the ninth-best regular season game in all of 2023 and ranks among ESPN’s 10 best games over the last five seasons. -- Sports Business Journal
Earlier, I had posted ND-A&M at 8.2M.....Miami-Florida at 6.6M, and.....UGA-Clemson at 7.9M.

Congrats? More people watched them lose than any other team that lost?

I think you should quit acting like a Georgia fan and go full on USC. I’m probably not the only one.

Being the only game on that day probably helped the ratings. Especially with most people having Monday off.

Relax.
All he inherited was 4 scholarship players and a golden retriever at safety. Give him 3 more years to get his guys in there and he'll be ready to knock out that season opening win.

It will continue with an old coach from up North. We get it. We have become A&M.

In a way, that game followed the trend of sensationalized MSM... People tend to tune in to watch real-life a$$ beatings....Make no mistake, 9.2 million folks witnessed just that...

Yep, 27-20 is an arse beating. 447 yards to 421 is an arse beating also.
