So let me get this straight.

Meyer has assembled arguably the most talented team in all of college football.
Meyer has won two MNCs while at Florida.
He took a Florida team that was talented but poorly coached and now is the dominant team in the conference.

His offense is very very very strong but people gloss over the fact that his defenses have just as much to do with his wins as his offense. He has consistently had strong defenses at Florida and their 2007 year was due to poor defensive performance.

I think you answered your own question.

I didn't say you didn't deserve the 2006 NC...you just had to have a lot of things go your way, which they did. That's pretty much the way all teams win a title, more or less.

Disagree to an extent. I think he's a lot like Saban. They are good coaches, but rely on superior talent to sway the game.
First of all, which coaches consistently win without "superior" talent.

Having said that, I have to defend Saban here- he gets 100% plus out of his players. They'll play at or above their level.

His methods are a grind, from what I've been told, and not sure how effective they are with "today's kids", long term, I'm speaking of. We'll see- he's off to a great start...AGAIN.

Not all coaches do that. Tubs was someone who consistently out performed with the talent he had. Saban is a coach who is a good coach but does not beat top teams till he has top talent and depth, this is mostly due to his style of play.

Meyer won an undefeated season at Utah with equal talent to other teams.

I'll catch heat from this because someone will take this as a slight against the "mighty saban" but it is not.

Disagree strongly. He not only gets talent, he uses it wisely once he gets it. Two MNC in three years is enough proof for me.

TOM, let me say something to get us on the same page. I know I've said it before and I'll probabaly have to say it again.

Meyer won at lower levels b/c defenses were not recruited to, were not trained or coached or developed to stop what he was doing. It is a smoking mirrors offense. It is like the run and shoot. Eventually it gets figured out. The better SEC coaches have already figured out how to stop it but right now Tebow is buying Meyer's time b/c he's a worldclass QB. The next guy won't be that good. The question is how does Meyer adjust?

Who is his new OC? does this guy have experience in a pro-style offense? It takes several years for a HC to gain experience in being able to operate that type of offense at a high level. It's sort of like learning to be a doctor. You can go to school and graduate but chances are if your this guys patient you'd rather him have 10 years experience instead of a few months.

Meyer has survived on something that is NOT GOING TO WORK WITHOUT TIMOTHY TEBOW AT THE LEVEL FLORIDA IS SUPPOSE TO WIN AT. That is why I am telling you right now when Tebow is gone if Meyer don't go with him he will fail just like Zook unless he's turning it over to an OC with years of experience with it. And by that I mean recruiting particular players, particular offseason and inseason conditioning and alot of other things that are different than what he's done.

You really do need to get it through your head; if the defense can't stop your offense, that is good offensive coaching.

And nobody has been able to stop Urban Meyer's offense consistently to date...

So I'll let you put together my point.

LSU 51
UK 63
UGA 49
VAND 42
USC 56
BAMA 41

yea and shave about 2 touchdowns off of that when Tebow is gone.

He'll still win some but he won't win more often than Ron zook b/c his offense is 1 dimensional garbage.

Florida led the SEC in rushing last year. I'm assuming you want to paint Meyer's spread option as a pass happy offense.

shave 2 touchdowns off and they still win every game except bama.

he won before tebow was his starter with an average QB, he'll win after. Florida will be elite as long as he is there and probably after he leaves

he's the best coach in the SEC hands down right now. Someone will have to take that honor from him
