Arkansas is a beautiful state. My recent trip fishing in north Arkansas

The people of Arkansas however…

Did this thread seriously get to page 3 without mentioning the pop foul?

No one nationally cares about conference championships in basketball more than advancing in the NCAAT. Hell in conference only two schools seem to: Alabama and Tennessee.

Now why is that?

Let's recall this conversation started with the claim that Arkansas hasn't accomplished anything significant,

They have won the SEC in basketball twice and the last time they were able to accomplish that was 1994

I thought I was specific enough with the 1994 comment.

I get the significance of final 4’s, but elite 8’s?

I've been there several times and never saw anything to make me want to go back.

I remember people wearing raggy Arkansas shirts with 1994 on them. This was 2 decades after the date on the shirts.

Kentucky doesn’t because they have dominated a football conference in basketball

I wonder how different Kentuckys history would be if they were in the ACC?

It’s obvious why Arkansas doesn’t care, becasue they can’t win the SEC for almost 3 decades

Arkansas has made the SEC Championship in football 3 times, which is more than several current schools(and founding schools) who have made it 0 times.

Wonder how our history would’ve been different if we kept the Bear.

We can do what ifs all day.

And considering Kentucky has won 8 NCs in basketball, only 2nd to UCLA, we would’ve been fine in the ACC as well.

Prettier than any other state besides GA/TN in SEC footprint.

Anyone in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and to a lesser extent Georgia making fun of any of the other states in this list is laughable. They are basically the same damn place with the same racial demographics and the same culture and same pace of life. Everyone of them is mostly rural with their major cities being a shithole, with the exception of Atlanta which is a larger, much more economically viable shithole.

That said, I would rather live in any of them than any state outside of the southern US.

Odds / Probability of reaching Elite 8 vs winning SEC

Elite 8 = 1:44 / 2.2%

SEC = 1:14 / 6.6%

Just for fun it is 1:22 / 4.3% of reaching Sweet 16 making the chances of reaching that less than winning SEC as well.

The most damning thing is they haven't won NCAA or even SEC hardware in bball since the 2000 season.
