Don't they have some sort of capture device? A lasso or net or something? Seems like somebody could develop a tool for this situation that would have a reasonably high success rate. I guess the litigation over failures would quell that market though.

Just have someone distract him while a couple of guys sneak up from the other side and pull his dumbass off the edge. Then promptly arrest him.

they had a pretty badass suicide by cop in houston like a week or so ago. Handicap dude in a truck using the wheel chair lift to swing at cops during a chase then telling them he had a gun so they would shoot him.

Don't judge 'til ya been there. Someone in that position is not in their right mind. (obviously) I would venture to say that most everyone has had suicidal thoughts at some point in their life. A few act on these without thinking. Think about what your mind was/is like as a teen or young adult.
