Plenty of great passers in CF today. The Heisman the last 15 years has been going to the QB who is just as good as a runner as they are a passer.
The past 15 years, the Heisman has gone to
a) the best offensive player on a national championship contender, or
b) a player at a legit (P5 contender) team that has put up insane numbers.

Tua last year was the exception- he got screwed out of it by an injury that reduced his numbers down the stretch, and then a mortal showing against UGA in the SEC Championship.
I think it's his for the taking, with the caveat that Bama has to beat LSU. I think if LSU wins, even if Tua puts big numbers up, Burrow would have to do so also in order for LSU to win.

If LSU wins out, Burrow becomes the favorite. He's far and away the reason LSU is winning and setting records.

Hurts, I think is screwed. He plays different, but I can't see 3 OU QBs in a row taking it home, no matter what.

Darkhorse candidate might be J Taylor at Wisconsin; if they can emerge and his numbers stay up he has a chance.

What is it about three in a row that it is such a big deal? The better story is three transfer QBs in a row, which I think sits well with the voters, especially Hurts story.

I'm glad that 10 will happen next year down in Bama's vacation home down in Baton Rouge. Hopefully it will be one of those legendary Night Games.

I believe it gets to at least 11.

That would be a nice pay day and the odds are much better half way through the season with how well he's played to date. don't think he will win but he is much more legit now than when you laid your money down.

Bovada updated today.

Joe +260
Jalen +300
Fields +1000

Fields = high ranked team, quarterback, transfer story, high profile games, explosive.

Good value.

1925

Pretty clearly national champion 1A or 1B with a Northern team (Dartmouth/Notre Dame/Minnesota)

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!

Retroactive: "NOBODY CLAIMED THEM? BY GAWD THEY BELONG TO BAMA!"

1925 National Championship- Alabama claims they share this one with Dartmouth. Who awarded the NC? Houlgate and Helms. Houlgate started his system in 1927. So Bama won their 1925 NC using a formula that didn’t exist until 1927? Helms Athletic Foundation started in 1941. Another incredible retroactive NC.

1926 National Championship- Alabama claims they share this one with 3 other teams with equal or better records! Once again it is the Helms Athletic Foundation in 1941 that awards it!

1930 National Championship- The Davis poll says that Bama tied Notre Dame for NC this year. This was the only one to award it to Bama. Notre Dame was named NC in 6 polls! Parke Davis is another retroactive system! He (an individual, not an organization) did his in 1933!

1934 National Championship- Alabama says they share this with two other teams. The awarders are Dunkel, Williamson, and Football Thesaurus. Dunkel was an individual who came up with his own system. Williamson was a geologist who came up with his own system. Football Thesaurus first appeared in 1946!

quote:

Wait, I thought losing Bowl Games mattered?

#1 Michigan State lost the Rose Bowl to #5 UCLA
#2 Arkansas lost to the Cottom Bowl to UR LSU
#3 Nebraska lost the Orange Bowl to #4 Alabama
#4 Alabama won the Orange Bowl against #4 Nebraska

So losing Bowl Games mattered in 1965 but did not matter in 1964.

1964 National Championship- While the AP did award the NC to Bama (10-1-0), Arkansas had the better record, 11-0. Alabama played Texas in their bowl and LOST. The AP final poll was before the bowl.

1965 National Championship- The AP gave this to Bama. That year there were three teams with better records than Bama. Bama 9-1-1, Michigan St 10-1-0, Arkansas 10-1-0, Nebraska 10-1-0.

Then we have these two...where the other "co-champion" beat you on the field.

1973 National Championship- AP puts Bama 4th after their bowl game loss. Bama claims a NC from the UPI poll that was taken before they met Notre Dame in the bowl game and lost. There were 3 teams with better records than Bama that year. The embarrassment of naming Alabama number one caused the UPI to name champions after bowl games. Yet Bammer has no shame in claiming it of course.

1978 National Championship- AP gives this to Alabama(11-1-0) even though USC (12-1-0) had the better record Guess who Alabama lost to that year? USC!!!!!!!!!. UPI gave the NC to USC.

...and let's not forget this joke. You finished 3rd...THIRD IN THE SEC, but y'all claim a national championship.

1941 National Championship- This is a complete joke. The AP ranked Alabama 20th in the nation with 14 teams with better records in the top 20. Once again it is the Football Thesaurus that retroactively awards it. Alabama finished 3rd in the SEC that year. Mississippi State won the SEC title..yet Bama claims a National title!

You realize there weren't any polls in those years, right? The only overall looking national polls were created after the fact.

So if your argument is nobody in America won national titles those years then ok I guess.

quote:

1964 National Championship- While the AP did award the NC to Bama (10-1-0), Arkansas had the better record, 11-0. Alabama played Texas in their bowl and LOST. The AP final poll was before the bowl.

Again - Alabama was ranked #4 going into the Bowls and #1-3 lost, with Alabama actually beating Nebraska.

So, either bowl game results matter (you seem to think so based on your 1964 take) or they don't. If they do, there is zero argument against Alabama in 1965. It's pretty simple.

Alabama doesn't claim the UPI they claim the Coaches Poll, like every other school in America does when they finish #1 in it.

Once again, every school in America accepts and claims national titles for being ranked #1 in the AP or Coaches poll.

Every single one.
