ALABAMA
The Crimson Tide should return four of the top seven scorers from a team that won the SEC regular-season title and SEC Tournament - most notably Jaden Shackelford and Jahvon Quinerly. The addition of five-star point guard JD Davison and four-star big Charles Bediako gives Nate Oats a chance at back-to-back conference championships.
quote:
ARKANSAS
The Razorbacks are losing a lot - including projected first-round pick Moses Moody. But JD Notae should return as a double-digit scorer, and Eric Musselman is adding at least four experienced double-digit scorers via the transfer market, mostly notably Chris Lykes (Miami) and Au'Diese Toney (Pitt).
quote:
KENTUCKY
The expected return of Keion Brooks, Dontaie Allen and Jacob Toppin gives John Calipari a core of three players who averaged at least 14 minutes per game this season. He'll fill out the roster with a top-five recruiting class and at least two impactful transfers - namely Kellan Grady (Davidson) and Oscar Tshiebwe (West Virginia).
quote:
AUBURN
Auburn's frontcourt of Jabari Smith and Walker Kessler might end up being the best frontcourt in the SEC. That's two five-star high school prospects joining a roster returning two double-digit scorers.
quote:
TENNESSEE
Yves Pons' decision to join Jaden Springer and Keon Johnson in NBA Draft makes it likely that Tennessee will be replacing four of its top five scorers. But a core of Victor Bailey, Santiago Vescovi and Josiah-Jordan James should pair nicely with a recruiting class highlighted by the best point guard in the Class of 2021 (Kennedy Chandler) and another newcomer who just averaged 11.7 points while shooting 44.2% from 3-point range at Auburn (Justin Powell).

Did Alabama go down in the rankings due to Wilson’s departure, or does this system also consider the impact of those transfers in?

I'm assuming it was more because of Villanova's guys saying they were returning bumping them up.

Does UCLA have everybody returning or something? Why are they #1?

UCLA
Every meaningful player who helped the Bruins make the Final Four is currently projected back on campus - among them NCAA Tournament star Johnny Juzang. UCLA will add five-star prospect Peyton Watson and should have all of the pieces necessary to win a national title.

Oh, okay. Makes sense.

Kind of surprising they haven’t mentioned the other 2 transfers Auburn has gotten.
I expect another rise when Auburn fills out the roster.

I figured he'd go pro. That dude isn't a 1st round pick?

Honestly I did too - was kind of shocked to read he was apparently returning. Maybe he can improve on some other things, but he looks to be the best version of himself at this point. Maybe he has growth potential defensively or expanding his offensive game, I'm not really sure.

On paper Arkansas and Alabama look to be reloading... you never know how a transfer will do at a new place but they both seem to have plugged the holes left by players graduating or heading to the NBA.
Bama might have fixed their one glaring weakness in getting a dedicated point guard to run that awesome Alabama offense. If so they could be a position to make a Final Four run next year.
Kentucky lands another amazing recruiting class and may have a bit more experience to steady the program after what was an absolutely rotten year for the Wildcats.
Arkansas, as they said, losses a ton of talent but appears to be bringing in a ton of talent. I suspect things will be similar to how they were this year. We start off a bit meh and then get hot at the end of the season as the transfers and returning players meld.
Based on this, and this is very subject to change once games actually start to be played, I think Alabama takes a small step forward, Arkansas holds serve, and Kentucky takes a big step forward after a horrible season.

Agree - I'd also add Auburn in there for massive step forward. They are going to have a really solid group next year with Kessler/Jabari, the solid transfer from EKU and then some of the guys who were forced into lead roles last year getting to share it (Flanigan, Cambridge, Cardwell).
Not really sure what to expect out of Tennessee - they'll be good/solid, just not sure how good.
State returns basically their entire roster outside of Adu. They won't be great but they'll be tough.
Ole Miss added some solid transfers, also lost some good players.
Florida added a bunch of guys who had great offensive numbers last year.
LSU feels completely up in the air - as of right now that isn't a real compelling roster.

I agree. They are sort of a wild card at the moment. I think they will be, at least, a solid team but I'm not sure what their ceiling is at this point. LSU is sort of in the same boat but perhaps not as much reason for optimism.
It should be another great season of SEC basketball next year.

Honestly think it has a shot to be as good a league top to bottom as we've had in a long, long time.
Vanderbilt added the kid from Minnesota, Georgia has made some interesting additions, A&M is in year 3 with Buzz. Missouri........well maybe not Missouri.
South Carolina is going to be horrid, though. Then they'll go 8-10 in conference play.

We'll have more balanced scoring next year. We still have 4(?) sports to fill. Long way to go this summer.
