Update: They are not shutting down the bridge after all as the waters are receding when they were expecting them to rise. Phew. Drive safe everyone.

Looks like they're going to have to shut down I-75 for a while north of Gainesville because a bridge is about to be flooded out. The detours are serious too as it will add hours to your drive. Leave extra early if you're making the trek here from the north. Drive safe.

Took me 2 hours to go the 40 miles from Lake City to Gainesville last night. And that was at 2am. They close 75 and 441 is gonna be even worse

If they shut down the bridge on I-75 at the Santa Fe river, then they'll do the same to 441. The detours go waaaaay out to avoid having to go over the Santa Fe river where it's flooded

Thanks for this. I'm going to be coming north on I75 from Ocala, and then back after the game. Any issues coming up from the south and going back south after the game on I75?

I've never seen anything like this here and I've lived here almost my entire life. This shite didn't even happen in '04 when we had the three hurricanes come through here. Just haven't seen this much rain in one day.

Besides finding gas and being in typical game day traffic, no, you should be ok. They're asking everyone to arrive early to this shite because of the lack of resources too. Gonna be fun!

I haven't called yet to find out if my hotel is still open or if my rental car is still reserved. I need to do that today.

My flight out Sunday is from Tampa, I hope that airport is running normally by then. Looked online that it was having limited service today.

301 crosses the Santa Fe River as well. Albeit closer to the start of the river. I assume they plan on closing it as well as the detours don't include that.

Yikes. Honestly won't be surprised if attendance isn't on the low side for both Gators and Vols. I know some will go to get a sense of normalcy or because they've already made reservations or bought tickets but I think a lot of others may just choose to watch at home.

Honestly if I am a Tennesssee fan living in Tennessee, I wouldn't bother. I cannot imagine the hassle it would be to get here. Hours added to the trek down, possibility of no gas anywhere. frick that.

No doubt. I don't think I'd drive it for sure. Maybe if you can fly in and drive up to Gainesville but otherwise it's too much of a hassle if you're making the drive from Tennessee. And the weather here and in GA hasn't exactly been peachy which only adds to the length of that drive.

If you can even find a rental car...

When I went out to Dallas a couple of weeks ago, I was suppose to connect in Houston. Fortunately, Southwest is amazing and put me on a direct flight to Dallas since Houston couldn't support regular flights yet. I also got lucky that my rental car in Dallas was not canceled. I looked to see if it was even a possibility to do a car rental that week and it was completely sold out. I imagine that is going to be the issue with renting a car this week at one of the airports.
