I don't know. Maybe because he's an extremely wealthy, high profile individual? I'm neither of those things and I value my life enough that I've got one whenever I'm in my vehicle.
Having said that, driving 160mph in a neighborhood while drunk proves beyond a doubt that he lacked the proper judgement to own one.

A legal gun in the car is not the issue. If it was not registered and was illegal, that could be an issue but understood moving to a new city. But, to drive that fast on those streets while drunk is beyond stupid.

So he's getting 2 years minimum per NV law. A famous real estate mogul in Vegas got 8-20 years last year for DUI manslaughter and he wasn't going anywhere near as fast.

I guess the same attorney that got Jacobs off will get Ruggs off too
Was Jacobs BAL over the legal limit?
Hint: everyone but apparently you knows the answer to that question.

The millions in payments to family will give him a lesser sentence
This isn't even a remotely intelligent statement, given that the criminal proceedings will play out first.

Think he has a kid.

I'm guessing he's been a total idiot all his life

Do hate to see this, it's a tragedy am guessing another no father in the home so good lucky mama deal so the kid grows up stupid and alone.

Cat had a gun.....why?

Curious about what music he listens to. What goes with 160 MPH drunk on your arse?

Yeah I don't know why it matters that he had a gun or not. No adult should need a reason to own a gun and I'd damn sure have one if I was a famous athlete and rich.

I'm not a famous athlete and live on an old country road in the middle of nowhere and I've always carried a loaded gun in my automobile's and have them in my home and my wife carries in her purse. Just a way of life for us. We aren't idiots, we don't drink excessively & drive recklessly to put others in danger.
Ruggs fricked up and he ruined may lives with his actions. I'm sad for the family of the deceased and I hope he gets the maximum sentence he deserves.

He better hope the judge is from New Orleans or Jackson MS.

trying to negotiate the best plea they can for him. This will not go to trial
This right here.
Having said that, the best deal he likely gets is a blind plea. Unless someone really screwed up something with evidence collection (and this is Vegas. They have tons of experience dealing with rich drunks doing stupid stuff) he has absolutely no cards to play.
Which is one reason why the civil suits will come later. Once he confesses to killing her while driving drunk, the plaintiffs will have nothing to prove other than the monetary damages.

Scott Gragson plead and he still got 8-20.

That makes so much sense. The fact he unsuccessfully tried to cover it up is even more hilarious
Notice how he magically disappears whenever it's brought up?

This is the same racist, kid who threatened to sue ShaggyBevo when he got doxxed.
The SAME racist, kid who ran to the Help Board on here begging the mods to tell people to stop picking on him, even though "it isn't him".
Racist, kid has SERIOUS issues.

I know dead is dead, but if she did survive the crash and burned to death it's just yet another level of terrible.
No way any competent defense attorney lets a jury hear eyewitness accounts of her screaming as she burned alive by those trying to rescue her. This will never go to trial.

Exactly. Even the defense asked for 6. Ruggs is going away for at least that. Probably 10 minimum.

I don't think proving liability is going to be much of a problem regardless. Hit the lady from behind going 156? If that ain't wantonness I don't know what is.

It's damaged, but nowhere near like the Bramblett vehicle and he wasn't going anywhere near as fast as Ruggs.
Anyhow, the whole discussion was about survivability. If the story is accurate and the witness statements are correct that question has been answered. Not only did she survive the crash, she was conscious and screaming as bystanders tried to rescue her. Terrible.

Sadly, no matter how long this thread gets, the insanity of drunk driving will insure that this happens again...and again.

Yeah, that would be reckless driving WITHOUT the double intox. He is fricked.
