If that’s in the contract then fine, if not then no.

This is a black eye on UNLV unless they come out w evidence that this isn’t true.
Do we even know this is NIL related? His numbers suck. Maybe they’re giving reps to someone else and he’s pissed.
He’s a pussy for quitting on his team either way. This makes him pretty toxic moving forward, and he’s not good enough to take a risk on.

Not many contractors will complete a job if they don't get paid...at least not the ones that will be in business for very long. I don't like it, but there is no sense in whining about it. Players are seeking compensation for services rendered. And that's fine, but then there is no reason a collective shouldn't pull their money if a player fails to perform.
Exactly, the entire situation sucks but this is where we are right now.

Anyone familiar with the term "tramp athlete"?
In the early 20th century there were grown men who would play for different schools every year.
Maybe one year the guy "attends" Harvard and gets some cash to be on the football team. Next year, Yale offers him more money so he "attends" Yale law school and plays for them. Then Dartmouth offers him even more money so he "attends" their divinity school and plays for them.
Point being, none of this is new. It's been around for over 100 years. The NCAA just pretends it hasn't.
Pretty sure the great Doc Fenton was paid to play for LSU in a similar way.

I couldn’t agree any more, some regulations have to be introduced or this is going to completely spiral out of control…and yes, what a quitter and I feel for his team
A) Yes I hate modern CFB. It’s minor league NFL without contracts
B) The feds have shot down every single attempt to reign in the NIL situation. They’re going to force them to be university employees with collective bargaining power (aka unionized).

The ncaa will be replaced by a professional league & the athletes will become employees. That’s when we’ll see a union, salary caps, etc.

If the kid was told, "If you come to play here, you will get X," and X was not delivered, that's on whoever promised X. Not the kid.

NCAA won't be "replaced" per se. It will still govern everything besides football (for now).
But there will be employee status, unionization, and collective bargaining.

How did you get that from my post? And tons of people get a guaranteed payday without real expectations. See the guaranteed money in rookie pro contracts for sports. See guaranteed money to coaches in college sports.

It's different somehow. You know, because of amateurism and stuff.

Exhibit A of why I'll never support donating $$$ to NIL. These kids don't give a shite about the school. This kid is a quitter and wow what an insult to his current teammates.

It’s going to be totally awesome when they don’t have anywhere to go because all the programs are shut down or have gone the D3/Ivy League route.
He and his buddies will be so much better off with 100k or more in student loans. Of course, that’s the ones that can actually get in a school like a regular student. For the rest, Wal-Mart is always hiring,

In the fiscal year that ended in June 2022, the Rebels reported more than $1.4 million in football revenue after losing money in each of the prior three fiscal years

Do you think the "representations" he references that were "not delivered" are that no one else would get practice reps?

Good for him. I can’t wait for players to demand a Venmo payment each time they are asked to step on the field -

Very few were actually making money BEFORE this NIL nonsense.
Only a handful of them survive without subsidies from other sources like student fees. There was a story a week or so ago that Tennessee was raising ticket prices to cover costs.
Unless there’s a massive reset the end result will be most D1 programs will not exist a decade from now. If they play football at all it will be a lower division model.

As someone else pointed out, he has a completion percentage of under 50%.
If I hire a contractor who just shows up when he wants and does shitty, substandard work you can bet your arse I am not paying him the originally agreed upon amount until he makes it right.
