He's an option QB in an option offense. People keep hammering this stat like it's relevant.

Yes, clearly everything hinges on whether or not some form of an agreement actually exists and is similar to how he has characterized it.

What's confusing me is that several posters seem to be of the opinion that he's somehow a "pussy" for not playing even if everything he's saying is 100% accurate, and that's what I'm having a hard time understanding.

As a side note, if something were to happen overnight to make my labor twice as valuable then I most likely would go to my boss and try to leverage that into a 100% raise. I live in an at will employment state where I could be let go for almost any reason with almost no notice, so why wouldn't I renegotiate in that scenario?

So we agree he is shitty throwing the ball. He ranks 140th in the country in passing yards. His rushing stats are better. He has 253 yards rushing, averaging 84 yards per game. That is 12th in the country among quarterbacks. He is averaging 190 yards of offense per game. His QBR, which takes into account rushing and is generally used as a measure of “best” quarterback, has him ranked 74th in the country.

ETA: Excuse me, he was. Apparently he is no longer a college football player.

Another UNLV player will enter the portal (when it opens) as well after game 3.

RB Michael Allen.

He also left for unfulfilled NIL

Something like somebody building you up, telling you how much you are worth? Maybe someone like this players agent, telling him how incredible he is and how much money he is worth? You better hope your boss agrees and someone wasn’t just blowing smoke. If you have an over inflated sense of worth and try to play hardball, you too will likely find yourself out of work.

Are you sure he just entered the portal? How did he do it since it is closed until December 9th?

Maybe he's an option QB in an option offense because he produces that kind of stat.

Not entering now obviously but he INTENDS to enter the portal.

He'll enter at the end of the year. He is redshirting. He is basically saying he was lied to about NIL as well.

This makes no sense whatsoever.

good for him

can't wait for teams to start dropping players because they ended not being as good as the value of their NIL contract.

He threw 26 TDs, 2,400 yards, and ran for 1200 yards one season at Holy Cross.

He accounted for over 100 TDs to only 16 interceptions. The dude was good.

Plus he was winning "when he quit"

I posted it earlier, pages back. I didn’t search long and hard, but the numbers from 2019 (this was pre covid, so you can’t say it was because of covid) showed that 25 out of 130 FBS football programs were profitable. Over 100 lost money.

Depending on source, 82-88% of college athletic programs lose money.

I had read that several years ago. It is why I suspect we will see many small schools stop having football teams. Yes, of all the programs football makes the most money, but it is also the most expensive sport, too. When you add profit sharing, and spiraling coaches salaries....and don't think coaches salaries are only spiraling at the largest schools. I can assure you the DIV. II and III schools are paying more for their coaches, too. Not to the degree of the P4 schools, but still going up, nonetheless.

And the player went along with it without questioning it. Not a smart move by the player or whoever may have represented him.

A lot of lessons are being learned in this early nil era. Screw this, I don’t feel sorry for anyone involved on either side.

I’m sure I speak for others who had to pay their own tuition to college to get an education.

No idea, just know 43.8% is not a good number and all I see is Tyler Watts when I hear option QB.
