It’s going to eventually lead to a drastic decrease in the amount of programs nationwide because the majority of programs can’t afford to do any collective bargaining or NIL. It’s not good for college athletics long term

These programs are making money. Players deserve to get paid for making them that money. If you don't get paid what was agreed, then yes, stop working. Every single one of us would do the same. My work isn't free.
Do people pay and go into high levels of debt for the opportunity to get only a partial amount of the benefits you get at work?
Are there millions of people who would love to have your job without getting paid, just for the benefits alone?
I don't think it's anywhere near the same.

Yes, how dare companies like ESPN, coaches, and the NCAA make millions to a billion + off of athletes playing a sport and those athletes dare to ask for a piece of the pie.
What if a player had to play college football for a University and graduate with a business degree to be able to move on to the NFL? And college sports didn't have tv contracts. What would be the benefit for the player?

so you think it's okay to lie to employees about their actual compensation
wow

Makes you wonder how many players quit midseason after learning their draft stock is sufficiently high and fake injuries to not damage their reputation and the coaches are forced go along with it to not lose other locker room me first players

This is why something called contracts were invented and why the NFL has them. CFB collectives will be forced to go that route soon.

Does everyone here believe every single tweet they read? It sure seems like a lot do.

Who is the employer? Employee?

Players just quitting in the middle of the season.
So I am not surprised.
JMO I think they should get nothing NIL wise until the season including the bowl game/playoffs are complete. Period.
That would end some of this nonsense.
Unless they are legitimately injured then they would play in every game unless the coaches deem otherwise.

so you should not be paid at your job until early December, in a lump sum

If someone promises you money in exchange for your labor or participation in some activity and then makes it clear that you won't be paid what was promised, you stop working. I think it takes a lot more backbone to stand up for yourself in that situation that it does to just go along like nothing happened because you're scared to raise the issue or worried what other people will think of you.

A lot of people get paid once monthly, on the last business day of the month. Is that unfair?

Do we have proof yet this is what happened here? There have been a ton of replies, I may have missed it.
So far I thought it was just a bunch of he said/she said.

I was commenting on the initial reactions to the player's side of the story. If everything happened as he claims, surely he's in the right to refuse to play until he's paid what was promised, isn't he?

But why quit on your team? Couldn't he just sue the collective after the season for breach of contract? Surely he has something in writing that declares what the NIL collective promised him.
