This is sad to hear and wild to think that a tornado hit his hometown and severe weather resulted in his own death. RIP John

Yeah, articles are saying there was heavy flooding in the area. I'm guessing it was probably brick and concrete as opposed to rebar enforced concrete walls you see today.

Very sorry to hear this. Dang, you seek shelter in a basement (logical), and then an entire wall collapses. That's some bad damn luck there.

Hate to see this happen to someone so young. This selfless act of or bravery shouldn't go unnoticed.

My bad on the retaining wall comment. Not in good taste. I just woke up and it was before my coffee. I apologize.

There will be probably be some type of civil action but it's really hard to win a suit like that when a Tornado is involved.

Interestingly, this was not directly caused by the tornado. This area of Tuscaloosa (15th Street and 22nd Avenue) is far removed from the tornado's path.

Agonizing news. His dad, Al, is a good friend of mine. John was a very, very nice guy and a great athlete. This is exceptionally sad news.

Just heard about that. Oh,how horrible. I have a child his age. Heartbreaking. And on top of that he was doing what you're supposed do to.

Prayers for strength and comfort for his family and friends.
