It doesn't matter. I'll eat my crow if he goes to UNC. He isn't

ETA: It's getting kinda old, whenever a job opens up, everyone says "Oh Malzahn is going there for sure!!". And then he doesn't

Why do y'all keep saying this? Has he mentioned something like that before?

not to a newspaper- but it's pretty much a known fact within the coaching staff and some close friends

Mullen turned down Miami and Michigan last off season. UNC won't waste its time.

Slive will keep him from going to another SEC school. He stepped in when Tenn made a run at him two years ago.

I actually worry more about Texas running off Mack Brown more than anything.

Deal with it. Every NFL and elite college job that opens up everyone says "Saban is gonna take it". And then he doesn't.

People that say that are retarded. Saban will retire at Bama, he's only got 5-10 years left

The idea of being in a place and building it up to deserve it and be the guy that "started it all" or "brought it to glory" kinda thing.

Who has said Gus is going there for sure in this thread? All I've said is that it woulb be a hell of a Job for him to take. I doubt he goes but if they did offer him then I'd think he's have to take that Job. UNC is a damn good School, (insert but it's a basketball school) in a good Conference, has a shite ton of Cash. good facilities, decent football history and could be turned into a very competitve program year in year out with the right coach. As a whole UNC is a better University than most all SEC schools.

This thread is fricking retarded. Both Mullen and Malzahn are in excellent position to elevate themselves.

There's no way in hell that they would throw away their future potential earnings on a situation that is on par with Alabama circa 2003.

Mullen was not offered the Michigan job. He wasn't even a candidate.

He will not retire at Stae.

You're right Coonass, its amazing how many fans of other SEC schools are dying to get Dan Mullen out of Starkville.

I also don't see what makes UNC such a great job, or better than Mississippi State. I think if anything they are similar.

UNC's Kenan Stadium only holds 60K a tad bigger than Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville. They haven't won more than 8 games since Mack Brown's last year in 1997. Between 1998 and 2011 there isnt a lot of difference between the two programs. Since 1997 North Carolina has been to 6 Bowl games and Mississippi State has been to 5. North Carolina has had 7 losing seasons State has had 8.

What makes the UNC job SO great????

Come on dude, I realize we are all homers around here but sometimes you have to step back and be honest with yourself.

Read my facts and tell me how that is being a homer. I made comparable points on both.

I didn't even mention how UNC is and always will be a Basketball school just like Kentucky.

Last I checked Gene Chizik is the head coach at Auburn.

There is a superstar on the AU staff, but it isn't Chizik. Malzahn is a phenomenal OC, and will make a great HC eventually.

What did Bundy say that is dishonest? UNC hasn't done much of note than the Meineke Car Care Bowl or getting their shite kicked in 4 straight times by their in-state rival since Brown.

The best Bowl North Carolina has been to in the past decade is the PEACH bowl. They play in a 60K stadium that onlyl averages about 57k per game and are in a state that is Basketball first and dont produce a lot of football recruits.

UNC has the money to burn on building their program which they were trying to do with Davis and is in a relatively weak ACC. Even with a down trodden program they still made $7.5 million dollars more than MSU did in the '09-10 season. Don't get me wrong if MSU was in the ACC then you would probably be a very good job too. I'm know Arkansas would be as well. However, as it is now you are no better than the 9th best job in the SEC. Some coaches want to win and win big and from an outsider that job would be easier done at UNC than MSU.
