Mullen ain't leaving for a UNC program that is about to go on probation.

Last I checked Gene Chizik is the head coach at Auburn.

Malzahn is the head coach of the defending national champions!!!!!

So instead of waiting for a good program, he'll hop to a probation-bound basketball school just because it's a HC job?

Never heard the running joke of Malzahn being the coach, not Chizik?

The same exact thing can be said for Dan Mullen.
FWIW he has a dream job and its Penn State, I dont see him even being interested in UNC's job.

I bet Gus has a big grin on his face about right now. Any reason why he would stay at AU? He's probably tired of the NCAA bs by now.

I agree, never said he'd leave. I'm on your side.

Just like he had a grin for Vandy and Maryland right? He's gonna stay and wait for a good job

No coach who has a career on the upswing is going to go to a program like UNC. It isn't a good job to begin with, but add probation and it turns into a shitty job. The only reason they got Butch Davis was because he was burnt out from the NFL and wanted to go somewhere there was no pressure to win and win immediately.

I think that would be a hell of a job for him; probation or not. Davis has recruited pretty good there so there would be some talent on the roster. Plus Chapel Hill NC is a shite ton better of place to live than OPelieka (or anywhere in AL except here at the beach).
Plus another difference is that Mullen is already a Head Coach while Gus just wants to be a HC someday when the right Job opens. IMO if He were to get an offer from UNC he would be dumb not to take the job. In Fact any current assistant coach on any team would be stupid not to take that job.

Dan Mullen is not leaving Miss State until Penn State makes a coaching change in the next year or two. Penn State is Mullen's dream job and it is about to come open when Grandpa dies or is officially diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
Whether he can get it or not- who knows at this point. But Mullen isnt going to take another job until Paterno dies and Penn State makes a decision.
Deal with it
