The Blue People of Kentucky/Blue Fugates have always been fascinating to me for whatever reason, be it channeling my inner smurf or whatever. I mean sure the blue skin is a product of inbreeding but its so badass. Is it coincidental that UK is the "Big Blue Nation" and has actual blue people walking around nearby? IS IT??
...well I mean yeah, it is. But its awesome. And it would be better still if they were UK fans with season tickets, this needs to happen if it hasn't already.

They haven't had any in almost 100 years. They had some mineral deficiency.

Argyria

This isn't a mineral deficiency, this is self inflicted. The blue guy rubbed homemade colloidal silver on his skin and ingested tons of it. Silver has a long history of turning people blue.

Colloidal silver is a homeopathic antimicrobial that has been used for 1000s of years. It isn't very effective, but people will believe anything.

Yes I cheated with the pic of the guy on top pics as he indeed got his by rubbing silver. However the "Blue Fugates" of Kentucky got their blue tinted skin not from silver but from Methemoglobinemia as I understand it. It is supposed to be hereditary and the Fugates' isolation and resulting propensity to marry within their own family tree sometimes was part of what promulgated it for them supposedly. As far as I know the second blue person pic of the old lady in the much older photo may be one of the latter, as it mentions that there were still some Blue Fugates in KY through the 1960s that were known of at least...

But, but, EKU fans don't fit the profile at all

Maybe the Blue People are hiding from all these red assholes wandering around over there for fear of a mass purple epidemic consuming half the state?

Majority of EKU student population is from the hills of Eastern Kentucky.

Don't think there are too many blue people still around. I heard there is a facility (like a nursing home setting) they live in. Pretty much isolated people.

The blue people of Ky were using this but the Missouri fan already explained it.

We the Mizzou Nation applaud you for coming out and making your blueness known in a public forum, that was very courageous, you have our support.

Don't tell dad though. And wear layers around him I guess.

Thank you ATX.

And in regards to the OP. Blue skinned people actually get minority scholarships to UK as well as Eastern Kentucky University. Fairs fair right?
