Have you in my bracket in the finals beating Duke. Would beating Duke in the finals help dealing with the miracle shot that Laettner hit?

Hard to believe that he went 10 for 10 from the field and 10 for 10 from the free throw line and LSU could not sniff a field goal or free throw in the last 10 minutes tonight

I have always enjoyed reading every article I could find about The Unforgetables. Good group of kids.

Honestly, Scott Padgett in '98 did a lot to put that to bed. It's just fun to hate Duke and to hate Laettner.

Tubby eliminating them to go to the final 4 in 1998 got me over pretty much all of it. Mainly just sick of seeing the clip of that shot 10,000 times since then.

Kentucky was down to Duke 71-54 with 9:31 to go in the regional final in 1998. The Cats, led by Scott Padgett, stormed back and tore Duke's heart out 86-84.

UK went on to win the Natty. Revenge for '92 served. Content.

Thanks for that piece of history, I had not remembered that happening. Wonder if Coach K was torn apart as bad as Coach Jones tonight? lol

It's all good. I've seen two National Championships while CBS has been running those highlights everytime they open for the NCAA Tournament.

Yeah, but Duke has owned that arse most recently winning 7 of the last 8 and three in a row.

Meh. All time record is 11-9 UK. As for games that really count in the NCAA's Kentucky leads 3-2. Each time we beat Duke in the tourney we played in or won the title. ('66, '78, & '98)

As time goes on it will matter less and less, coach k and laettner are duke basketball,Kentucky is defined by 6 different decades with a championship, 5 different coaches with one, that was just a moment in OUR storied history

If "all white" duke would have beat Kentucky in 66' then got beat by Texas western you think they still would have made Glory Road, doubt it

ESPN is showing the IU shot that beat UK during regular season all the time in one of their commercials. Amazing how they never show the 3 pointer UK made that beat Wisconsin in the final four last year.

They hate us cuz they ain't us!

That 1998 game against Duke was impressive.

If we finish this 40-0 off all of the hidden agenda is gone, the cheater talk will hit an all time high while bobby knight has another complete bipolar meltdown when they stick the mike in his face and ask him how he feels, better have your DVR ready it will be forever great

Yeah I figure the Duke/UNC rivalry will die. Nobody will ever remember the 4 championships or the list of All-Americans. Nobody will remember Redick, Battier, Williams, Grant Hill, Jon Scheyer, Wojo.

You're an idiot.

Ehhh, Duke has only had success under one coach. He might not be that far off.

And '98 was the salve for that wound.

Two different coaches took them to the Final Four in the 1960's and 1970's. Kentucky beat them in 1966 and 1978.

Yeah, four final fours is not sustained success. I want to say two of those were with much the same team (sort of a "struck gold" scenario)

Pretty much the only reason why I wouldn't mind seeing UK go all the way.
