Kentucky players actively promoting officially licensed Fanatics products through the UK Team Shop on advertisements and their social media accounts

The University of Kentucky and Fanatics are taking their longstanding partnership into the NIL era. Today, UK Athletics announced a 12-year extension of its deal with Fanatics, which operates the UK Team Shop official online store, to include a first-of-its-kind NIL program for its student-athletes.

As part of the deal, select University of Kentucky athletes will have access to the Fanatics Creator Program, the retailer’s influencer marketing platform, to launch their own storefronts, curate product collections, and link merchandise in social media posts. In turn, those athletes will be compensated for their NIL. Further, a handful of athletes will spotlight new UK merchandise across Fanatics’ e-commerce network and brick-and-mortar retail partners, which include the University of Kentucky Bookstore, Kroger, Walmart, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Academy. Fanatics Collectibles, through its Topps and BowmanU brands, will also design, produce, and distribute collectible cards featuring current Kentucky student-athletes and notable alumni.

Interesting that the #3 ranked HS QB is announcing today and Stein has been crushing it in recruiting. Hopefully, Pope will close on Stokes.

If you want an Arkansas only board you’re welcome to go there. Mike may post some dumb shite from time to time, but this is plenty SEC relevant.

I suppose my thoughts are I don't remotely care about individual player themed merch. Jerseys are the only time that makes sense, and I'm just not going to wear a college kids jersey. That's weird.

As for the players getting $ to pose in ads wearing UK themed merch, OK, cool. If it's an extra inducement to get guys to sign up for football here, I'm all for it.

I have a hard time believing this is or will remain exclusive to UK. Fanatics will be paying every school for the right to use their players in their merch ads, because it will theoretically help them sell more merch.

Look at it this way: you’ve got a Nike athlete being recruited by a Nike school. Common sense says they’re more likely to sign with the Nike school than an adidas one. See: Stokes.

And for the haters…save the outrage. If you’re fired up over this, then clearly I’ve already accomplished my goal.

Yeah, I don't really want all the baggage that comes with Stokes, nor do I believe Pope and staff are equipped to handle that. Just turn this program into an even bigger circus. If Pope is going to succeed here at all, he needs to have the right guys. Ultimately, I don't believe he's going to succeed here and we're just delaying the inevitable. I also just don't remotely give a frick about what shoes some kid wants to wear.
