We had a blast at North Campus last time we were there but it sounds like the rules there have become rather draconian.

Suggestions?

Oh I'm well aware of what happened. I'm trying to figure out the best alternative where we can setup 3-4 tents with some kegs, food, music, etc.

North campus, or Meyers?

North campus quad rules:

quote:

To reduce physical damage to North Campus grounds and mitigate behavioral concerns, the following rules apply on North Campus:
Tailgating on North Campus is allowed beginning five (5) hours before kickoff.
Tables cannot exceed six feet.
Tents are allowed.
The following items are not allowed on North Campus on gamedays:
Kegs
Generators
Televisions
Amplified music
Grills or cookers of any type
Household furniture (folding chairs not included)

I'm about to head to bed but will help more in the morning. How big is your crowd? What are you bringing? Do you have a parking pass? When are you setting up?

Probably 75 or so for this game. Music, kegs, jambalaya or gumbo pot with burner. Will setup whenever we can/by the rules.

Haven't bought a pass but will be doing so once we figure out where the best place is.

We like to be "in the middle" if you will and like to party with the home team. Group will be 24-30 yr olds, mainly.

Well..north campus WOULD be the best spot if they didn't have those fricking stupid arse set up rules (thanks idiots who trashed the place in 2009). Meyers quad is where all the students have migrated since you can be out there at 7. North Campus is the only place on campus that has the "5 hour" rule. However, Meyers isn't easily accessible at all (even though it's smack dab in the middle of campus) because there's no parking around it and you wouldn't be able to transport stuff. To be honest, I don't know where away fans usually tailgate because I have my 1 or 2 spots that I frequent and don't know about others.

I think that Clarke Central high school (near baxter and millege) hosts the visiting team's RVs and is usually an away friendly lot. It's a little bit of a hike to the stadium (less than a mile though) and you won't really get a good "campus" vibe. Some others who have been visitors to Athens would have to chime in.

There is a small, triangular little plot at the corner of Fulton Street and S Thomas street by downtown that I remember was all LSU fans in 2009. It's not big AT ALL, but there's basically no rules and you can bring/do whatever you want there.

Is there a load/unload zone at Meyers? Trust me, we've hauled some shite.

Are trailers allowed in parking lots with a pass for the trailer?

Thanks. If there is a load/unload zone, we may try Meyers and pick up a few parking passes in a nearby lot. If not, might just setup in that triangle since most LSU fans will be coming from downtown too...

There are plenty of places. East campus is a spot where the older alumni typically tailgate. Myers quad is where the students tailgate. There were people still tailgating on N Campus this past weekend so I'm sure you could set up there regardless of what the "new rules" are. But I would honestly suggest East campus because of the ease with parking and accessibility.
